    Keeping networks open allows us to properly monitor them, to ensure that they haven't been compromised by terrorists. And allowing ISPs to properly profit from providing such a valuable service is protecting US business interests, which protects the country. And installing those monitoring/tracking chips in your skulls while you sleep protects you, both from kidnapping by non-governmentally approved organizations and thought crimes which can come unbidden to the inproperly trained.

    Remember, AC isn't anonymous to us. So stop complaining, sit down, take your medication and watch some TV.

    Just because Microsoft is doing something doesn't mean that everyone needs to set up their soap box.

    Actually, usually we do. Especially in this case.

    Wrong, wrong and wrong. Microsoft is using a weak "partner", Landmark Theaters, and a weak supplier, independent filmakers, to try and establish themselves as the digital standard for movies. This is a battle with Quicktime and Realplayer on what the standard will be, not with the MPAA. If the main industry is foolhardy enough to fall for this, I can already see the wacky licensing terms Microsoft will impose once there is no competition.

    For a second, I actually thought you were serious when you described OSS as being "Broken software that requires babysitting by elitist gurus". But is too silly. Too over top. You forgot to include smiley.

    Your MS experiences shines through. You see, OSS tends not to be broken long because the people who use it/need it tend to fix it quickly. At MS, it isn't broken until they say it is, and it wouldn't even be broken if you'd just upgrade.

    And companies using OSS don't spend 50% of their expenditures on IT, silly. That's Microsoft licensing and having to hire all those MCSEs. OSS cuts IT costs.

    Also, if you are aware of it, have the hardware/software manufacturers who will be affected joined together to fight these laws, or has it flown under their radar?
