I think another factor that needs to be considered is all the screw-ups by the Republican ticket: the Katie Couric interview, the fundamentals of the economy are strong, not knowing what the job of the VP is, the illegal abuse of power. Even Fox News and Karl Rove agreed that Obama ran a nearly flawless campaign. There was simply less fodder for Obama.
Ruby On Rails is to Web Development as Modular Homes are to Home Construction.
Personally, I'd rather not live in a trailer park no matter how fast I can move in.
I have 2 machines that can be had for less than $100 each. A Pentium II 300Mhz desktop with a bunch of extra memory thrown in running Arch Linux.7 with Gnome 2.8 and a Pentium I 166Mhz with just enough X to VNC into the desktop.
I developed a ASP.NET web application that connected to both Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL in Visual Studio.NET and moved it over to a Linux server for deployment without a problem. One important thing to note is that I understand that debug versions from MS.NET won't work in mono, only release versions.
I've attended three different universities and other than the part-time night professors at one of them, I had the same experience at all three. It's all busy work just to get you that piece of paper. You don't seem to learn anything useful.
I think your experience with the professors not putting effort wouldn't be different than at a typical school. Professors at universities are there for the research money and the classes are just a side thing that have to do to keep there job.
If the cable were to break wouldn't it fly outward like a shotput because of centripital force? Obviously, only the part that disconnected would go outwards, but if all else fails the cable could be detached at the base or some other key point.
It's been quite a few years since physics so I may be way off here.
From the article... "The ISPs are in a precarious position," Cowles said. "If they condone [spam], they're sticking their necks out. If they don't condone it, they lose business. So you negotiate the amount of complaints you're going to get."
But from what I understood from the article, there are only a handful of these spammers. Would it really be such a massive amount of loss in business to the ISPs if they decided to not condone spamming? Especially considering none of these guys are long time customers from the ISPs standpoint if they have to keep switching accounts.
I have the same situation setup right now through RCN. I likewise live in a back-asswards area with only one-way service.
The cable modem connects directly to the modem through a standard modem cable. The cable modem than plugs into the Linksys router which plugs into the hub.

Gee, Microsoft on one side, Clear Channel on the other. The symapthy I have for both sides is just overwhelming.

So if you wanted to overclock could you just dump in one of those giant Pixie Stix?
