I would like to RTFA, but as usual its/.'ed. Anyway, this the primary reason I keep around all my old unused computers and monitors. I don't want to take them to a landfil because of the chemicals in the chips, resins in the case, etc.. because it goes back into the ground.
I remember seeing an short story on Discovery Channel about some place in Asia that is the dumping ground for all of the worlds digital equipment. It was quite scary seeing young kids waddling around in lord knows WHAT chemicals trying to get to the gold in monitors.
A company could make a killing recycling computers. But into what?
Once you reach a certain number of listeners you have to start to use other companies like live365.com. What you do is stream to them, so all your doing is the upstream to them. Then they take it from there and handle all the listeners. So your using their bandwidth. They will still charge you, but not as much as a normal telco would.
I just love the fact that SCO is now paying its lawyers with stock options. I can't wait to see the look on McBride's face when their stock tanks. One thing you never want McBride, is a room full of angry lawyers..
Completely different my friend. True, K6's will probably run forever. It will probably still run if the heatsink came off.
Your XP on the other hand is different. A lot higher clock speed, higher memory speed, a LOT more heat and you probabaly turn the sucker off at night. Here we don't. We leave them on 24/7 to run analysis software.
I don't see what the big deal is with everybody getting pissed I said I wouldn't buy AMD again. I am sure they are very good for gaming. But for true processing and analysis their stability is the issue. That's all I'm saying.
A. These aren't remarked chips. They were bought from a good vendor (NewEgg) and were retail box with AMD approved heatsink/fan combo.
B. AMD provides the specs for the chipsets TO the manuafacturers. Put on some glasses sometime and check out the name on the chipset. It'll say AMD.
C. The systems ran fine for about 8 months straight.
D. The fans in question were the AMD approved fans. On the Athlons we still have left, I have replaced the OEM ones with Thermaltakes.
dealing with AMD's hardware problems. I have been on the AMD bandwagon since they first released the Athlon MP processors. Now a little over a year later, we've gone thru generations of processors and they are nothing but trouble. All processors are retail box with 3 year warranty. After RMA'ing ALL of them twice now, we said the heck with it and are converting over to dual Xeon systems instead.
Common problems where:
1. overheating issues with OEM heatsink/fans
2. fans locking up
3. motherboard chipsets frying
4. AGP slot working
5. etc...
It was just about everything that could happen, did. Maybe its not AMDs fault, but I have never had any trouble like this with Intel products. I hate to say it, but I probably won't buy another AMD processor. That is until they get their quality back on track.
Dude, NOVA should be on everyone's *geek* list of TV shows to watch. I will gladly spend $32 (DVD + book) to support this program. Along with it and Frontline makes PBS worth watching.
While watching History Channel, yeah I'm a loser, I ordered the DVD plus 448 book set. I can wait until January;) Everyone should order it. String Theory r00lz!!
So instead of waiting for torrents, I tried to order the DVD set plus book. Now they are telling me it'll be released January 2004. I might as well wait for the torrents and make my own DVD. I have it sooner than that!
Still, I'd rather buy the $32 DVD set. Hey its good television. Support PBS!
I loved this program when it aired. BUT, the coolest thing on the planet will go to the fist d00d or gal who puts a torrent available for each or all episodes;) What a thing to do on a Friday night.
Slowly as in it'll take a few years. Imagine millions of Americans sitting at home eating Cheetos, surfing the web and never leaving their home/apartment. That's what I mean by milky-white skin. No sunlight!
What bothers me is that all this technology is slowly forcing us to stay inside, away from human contact.
Whatever happened to taking the dog for a walk and talking to woman? Do men and women of today feel the only way to talk is hiding in some online forum? Are we slowly turning into a milky white skin-toned people?
Sure its free speech. I respect everybody's right to free speech, but when that free speech is vagely about facts, then that bothers me.
Since nobody, not even Fox News, is truly neutral, we have to gather information from all sources, left and right, good and bad. Then its up to we as individuals to decide what we want to believe in.

A better way would be to actually charge spammers with a reasonable sentence other than a fine and a slap on the hand.

What does this have to do with them making better printers?
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
I think its rectal

Why can't somebody just rsync the Google search cluster? Wouldn't it have the same results this guy is looking for?
So he's made progress and needs volunteers, so, uh, forgive me if I sound stupid, but, uh, its been more than ONE DAY!!
Nothing was violated. Sounds like you didn't have the Sources ISO.
Why is it some of the greatest minds on the planet can create a virus, but they still can't cure the common cold?
Anybody know what kind of moneys will be shelled out to protect Linus? Hopefully its more than what SCO has in the bank.

Yup, sure was. I didn't like Clinton either, so I used my right to vote.
