I don't think the XBox Live system allows for PC intereaction. This is due to the high number of PC users that like to cheat in games. Although, a cheat device for the XBox was released to some, and many people stopped playing the games that cheats existed for and went on to other similar games. Take Return To Castle Wolfenstein for instance. It was one of the biggest online games for XBox for a good while, until a bunch of people started cheating. Almost everyone stopped playing that and now plays other games.
What about all the companies that don't have the time, money, and resources to make any sort of switch? Companies with lots of proprietery code, or programs that originate from very old platforms. Think before you post idiocy;)
Turn off shadows. Some games have issues with shadows and ATI cards. Older cards like the 8500 had less trouble with it, for some reason. If you goto rage3d.com they have a forum with a bunch of bugs and sometimes some help in running games with ATI cards.
You can create an MSI that has no user feedback other than the installation progress... Possibly even that can be taken out. However, this just makes it seem more like some malicious software is being installed since it's so secret about what's going on. Also, there is typically an install path choice and some options like start menu icons and quicklaunch. So in refute, MSI may be a bit more complicated, but for the better good. I have not seen an RPM install that ASKED if I wanted a desktop icon or to be placed in the Applications menu... They either did so or assumed I knew how on my own.
*nix is vulnerable to viruses, there's just less of them. What program would you have used to scan for a virus on a *nix box should you require doing so? What website could you trust to look through to figure it out? When you say you had to prowl through the registry, please don't tell me the virus started up in the area that runs programs at startup..... That would be sad of you to not know that area as an Admin.
I think it is the opposite of what you imagine. I think DRM will drive people to Windows. Not really because it has DRM, but because something they bought requires it. I'm sure a lot of companies are going to be moving towards DRM enabled devices and software in the future as distribution moves more and more towards the internet.
This can greatly hinder adoptance of OpenSource by companies as well. Why would someone's boss want their code to be distributed? That's like saying our software is free. Which can be bad if you intend to sell your program.
How do you know you are not one of the zombie computers that was spoken of? AV software companies may not be as good as they used to be, but the software is hardly not needed. This is expecially the case if you use floppies from other people or download programs of any type and run them. There was a time when even stuff on Download.com was infected.
From Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913):
Monopoly \Mo*nop"o*ly\, n.; pl. Monopolies. [L. monopolium,
Gr. ?, ?; mo`nos alone + ? to sell.]
1. The exclusive power, or privilege of selling a commodity;
the exclusive power, right, or privilege of dealing in
some article, or of trading in some market; sole command
of the traffic in anything, however obtained; as, the
proprietor of a patented article is given a monopoly of
its sale for a limited time; chartered trading companies
have sometimes had a monopoly of trade with remote
regions; a combination of traders may get a monopoly of a
particular product.
autoexec.bat is ignored as far as I can tell. At least on my system, it seems to only be executed when a DOS program/prompt is brought up. Note that this is not the default prompt you get, but running actual command.com
Windows 2000 systems using AMD Athlon processors can hang when an AGP
program such as 3D WinBench 2000 is used. The problem can occur whether or
not an NVIDIA video adaptor is installed.
The solution is to edit the registry to prevent the Memory Manager from using
the processor's Page Size Extension feature. For a more complete explanation

If you have Windows server running and use that to maintain the login/passwords, you can just have yourself as administrator on any box. Then anyone can login with their security settings and profile anywhere.

With VBA, you generally have all your scripts in the spreadsheet itself and not off in some other file.
Well said

Sounds more like AOL OS ;)

I always use F2 to rename files in Windows. Little known shortcut key.

Probably because the last virus that did this caused more damage than the virus it was getting rid of.
The next version of emacs will not support the Backspace key, instead a string of "^H^H^H^H^H^H"'s will be inserted.... Oh wait, that's this version.

What vid card, cpu, & motherboard do you have? Those are all the most likely suspects of your troubles.
Say you use OSX so that everyone starts looking for holes in that, when in reality you're running AmigaOS.
Lindows starts out users as root, and it's Linux. Try not including a whole genre in an OS talk.
