    Yeah but I think we should at least be grateful that information about how many requests is being shared with the public. When I was a kid, that kind of thing would neverhave happened. (of course google didn't exist back then either) but the poont is at least we have an idea how much is going on, and that knowledge is a LOT more than we used to have.

    Same here regarding economics. For an education in the crap thats been going on, I highly recommend nakedcapitalism.com -- it is owned, hosted and moderated by former economists from Goldman Sachs among other things... kind of an expose' site, with books to their name, etc. Also "Killing the Host" by Michael Hudson.

Also regarding your last sentence: I would argue that his problem is unsolvable because it is a case of addiction, which has its foundations in spiritual illness. Just speaking as a volunteer counsellor and as someone who has been thru both sides of this nasty system we have here in the US.

    This is very significant in its symbolism actually -- remember, it was ATT/Bell Labs that invented C and UNIX and used it internally for their systems management. So for them to open this to the Linux Foundation could be seen as a strong endorsement.

    I remember watching "A Wookie Christmas" when it came out. And I'm not even a Trekkie. The only sci-fi I ever really liked was Arthu C. Clarke and the Matrix. So, I think it will be easy for them to find an audience.

  14. I think somebody is just guessing, or blinded by tribalism. Many people don't seem to realize she was GOP until the 1990's. They also seem to think the (D) next to her name means something. It doesn't. What matters is how she votes, and the way she votes puts her solidly in the neocon/technocrat camp. You have to remember, she's playing politics here, not policy.

    Of course the exaggerated. I've been watching companies do this my whole life, it seems par for the course.

    The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away. Because of this, I would never work for a franchise outfit like Uber; instead I would file a 1099 and use my own SSN for the business number (sole proprietorship) and actually work for myself.

    What really amazes me is how people seem completely oblivious to D. The D programming language was the logical heir and successor to C, fixing many of its flaws and extending it in relevant ways.

    There is some excellent analysis and commentary here, focusing on the metadata and and how it exposes the political/financial connections.... I *highly* recommend you scroll down and go thru the comments there, keeping in mind the Clinton foundation was accepting multi-million dollar gifts from mideastern countries while she was arranging arms deals as Secretary of State. BTW the site I linked is starting to remind me more and more of the old Groklaw.

    Somebody mod this guy up, he's right. Its the main reason why I switched away from the RH ecosystem. And before anybody tries to throw the "hipster" slur, I'm probably old enough to be your Dad. I've been at this for awhile, and there are good reasons to think the more traditional UNIX way was better.

  25. My local hospitals offer DVD's of one's colonoscopy upon completion of said procedure. I suppose the cloud is a good place to store that.
