    Don't take this the wrong way, but your Dad might have been a bit confused about his job. He obviously thought it was to satisfy customers. In truth, it was to satisfy the people paying his paycheck.

    Is "management" some sort of God or something? You have been totally brainwashed. Individuals are capable of making decisions too.

    O.k., that analogy looks questionable, but since a) virus infected Linux machines are relatively rare, and b) people who know what they're doing are less likely to have a virus, the original post, though arrogant, isn't far off the mark.

    Is it possible that there exists a virus that your software can't detect? Why don't you just keep logs of all your outgoing connections (on a non-Windows router) and see for yourself. If what your ISP says is wrong, you can present them contrary evidence.

    Yeah. When my battery was new (Toshiba Satellite laptop), I got about 2.5 hours in Windows XP but 3.1 hours in Linux with fluxbox. Even better when you're on a plane without a net connection and you can do all your work on a terminal instead of X.

    This book is from a set of lectures on calculus given by visiting professor Evgeny Shchepin at Uppsala University in 2001. The first obstacle potential readers will encounter is that the book is provided in PostScript format, with hideous bitmapped type 3 fonts embedded.

    The fonts aren't hideous. You just forgot to turn anti-aliasing on in your PostScript renderer.

    They didn't add anything to the license. They only threatened to sue companies who use Linux, and some companies paid them off to avoid being sued.

    So AutoZone broke the EUALA of UnixWare and put some binaray UnixWare .so files into some other OS (that happened to be Linux) without permission from SCO. If they had used a Linux only solution they would have bin fine.

    Does anyone claim this? Would binaries compiled for UnixWare work with the Linux kernel? This sounds as useful as using a Windows .dll file in Linux-- it's not. It would be interesting if there were something UnixWare could do that Linux cannot.

    Indeed, it's evil, but if Verisign makes it trivial to DoS the entire internet, then SiteFinder is probably not a good idea.

    Anyone who writes this would probably be accused of writing the original virus. As an added bonus, if the writer is a U.S. citizen, the terrorist enhancement would apply, and this means he or she might accept a plea regardless of guilt.
