  1. Re:Boys who cried wolf on Chinese Bloggers Stage Hoax · · Score: 1

Having read this site for years, I don't know of a Government that doesn't get bashed on these pages. And, in my opinion, nobody gets bashed more that the U.S. Government. So, while you certainly have a point that has merit regarding preconceived notions regarding China... implications that when the U.S. Gov't does something nobody says anything, you're flat wrong. In fact, I see more U.S. Gov't bashing than any other group. Beyond that, they not only bash "The Gov't", but particular leaders that they didn't happen to vote for as well as Americans who live their lives in even a minutely different manner than themselves. If I may say so, I think that until a person has visited at least dozen or so countries in a non-tourist mode, I have a hard time listening to them. They don't have enough input to piss and moan. Anyway, everybody gets bashed and it's nothing new.

I know several guys that used to work at the Teale data center (where the compromise occured). They say it's the most anti-unix place they have ever worked. Chances are those records were sitting on unpatched NT/SQL Server boxes. If by some small chance they were on non MS boxes, knowledgable *nix folk are non-existent there (according to them).

They went further to say the level of qualified security savvy personnel is pathetic and that any deployed IDSs are poorly managed...

I've done work for several dentists and they seem to all be interested in the latest and greatest (while not always excited about paying for it).

From the discussions I've had, they have all said that they would prefer something with a decent size screen that's wireless. When I showed them my PDA's browser, they all seemed to think it was too small.

I think something like this would be more useful. It has a PCI slot allowing a choice of wireless cards, etc. Also the Viewsonic listed above looks nice...

Maybe I'm off base (comment marked funny?), but he may be referring to the fact that in many markets, the person calling the cell phone is charged for the call. The numbers are easily identified by the prefix so the caller knows that they're being charged. Also, if I'm not mistaken, these markets have a much higher market penetration in general (e.g. Greece).
