  1. Quantum Communication ? on Baby Steps Toward Quantum Computers · · Score: 1

So ok, I haven't read the whole article and I may not know what I'm talking about :-) but its just an idea..

If you have 4 atoms A,B,Y,Z.
Y and Z are entangled, AND A is entangled with Y and B is entangled with Z
SO if you alter the state of A, Y is affected (which therefore means Z is affected and thus B is affected), if you measure A or B does that collapse the entanglement or whatever or not ?
So do you effectively have communication between Y and Z which is measurable at A and B ???
Was that confusing ? Just a question...

  6. Any ideas on Use Multiple Channels for Faster Wireless Networking · · Score: 1

So anyway what I want is wifi signal to get to my local pub :-) and to a mates house which is in the same direction. The pub is about 300m away (absolute maximum its probably around 150m really) and the mates house is about 1.5miles away. The equipment at present is a linksys wap54g and my laptop with a linksys 54g card.. I cant really get line of sight to either building but I might at some point in the future be able to put a repeated on the roof of the pub (which I can probably see from my roof). I want to do this using offshelf components. Any ideas anyone ? Cheers Cpt Kirk

From what I remember about remote control using palm devices, I wrote a bit of software which could learn remote codes and its not very difficult to do, although it did involve some processor control instructions, which the palmOS wasnt very happy about you doing (to do with turning on Ir port instead of serial).

I think that was changed with palmOS 3.5 to allow a function call to open the IR port though.

As for existing software for doing this stuff... there was a program which used to exist, I'm sure its still about... OmniRemote, which was excellent, actually I spoke to the developer to find out how to enable the ir port for consumer infrared but he couldn't give me the technical info just a rough hint at how to do it :-)

    Anyway, that might help ya

Ummm ... so surely since SCO are related to Linux with UnitedLinux, this means that they have actually released a linux distro, which therefore means it has agreed with the GPL etc.. and therefore the code is basically sanctioned by SCO even if they didnt mean to ?? Just an idea...

I'm using a T68m (Classic ?) which over here in the UK actually has the updated T68i (buggy organiser) software on it.

So I actually have a T68i ... for the price of a T68m. The shop wanted £149 upgrade for the T68i and they didn't have any it stock, so the T68m was £49 and they did have it in stock.

Apparently the only difference between the T68i and the T68m is the colour of the bit of plastic around the keys. (Didn't want bloody gold anyway :-)

Anyhow, its a pretty good phone, no reception problems here.. bluetooth works well (linux cnx too), IrDA works. The only thing I want now is the polyphonic ringtones... But i have a few of those in the office (Nokia 7210, Siemens S55, Nokia 7650) for testing, T68 screen is better.

So I thought someone should do a proper explanation. I've done the basics one to now, which explains Xlet, XletContext and the basic lifecycle.

Next stop getting input from remote controls (or the Event handler) that should be a laugh... four bloody ways to get the same information... nice.
