  1. Re:PSP is NOT an iPod Killer on iPod Killers For the Holidays · · Score: 1

I too own both an iPod and a PSP, except I don't use the PSP for portable gaming, I use it for portable video. It's a little more expensive (with a decent memory card) than a high-end iPod, but the way people utilize portable video and portable audio are different enough that the price point isn't a significant difference. I can fit half of my music collection on my 20 gig iPod, and only 6+ firefly episodes on my PSP with a gig card, but at least at this point the way consumers are used to portable audio and portable video, 6-10 hours of portable video (or more, depending on your video encoding preferences) is more than enough. I usually use the PSP for business trips where long airflights are involved, where the ipod is for Metro rides, long walks, and work outs. And until Apple releases an iPod actually designed for video, the PSP will have the screen advantage.

Why is this post moderated as "interesting?" its a link to google's description of their "PigionRank" system. Maybe some find it interesting, but "funny" is the first thing that comes to *my* mind...

  4. Another forgotten subspecies on Office-Hour Habits of the North American Professor · · Score: 1

The Barhopper Keeps his office hours in the bar located between the freshman dorms and the academic buildings at my college. Is often seen emerging late at night followed by a pack of slightly tipsy seniors discussing Nietzsche at full volume late at night. Is usually a favorite by the more alcohol-oriented students. I can't count how many times i've seen my professors coming out of a bar, blinking at the street light, on my way to an evening class.

Well there go my odds of getting picked, posted on slashdot ;) seriously, though, this is very smart of Philips. Every person who applies to test (or basically recieve free) a mp3 jukebox fills out several pages of product preferences. It wouldn't surprise me if getting tens of thousands of surveys (and email addresses) is more important to them than 50 people testing their hardware.
