Except for the news going around that this HP/Apple deal is going to bring WMA support to the iPod. In that case, what you're saying will no longer be true, and the iPod will become even more attractive as it will be the only player that can be used with ALL the services.
Unfortunately when we get a Commander In Chief that outright lies and says we need to go there because of 9/11, then you're going to get people upset about it and say "no, this has nothing to do with 9/11" because, well, it doesn't.
Every company I've been at in the last four years have made IIS report as Apache. At my current company its part of the standard security process for publicly accessible web servers.
So what you're saying is your security team recognizes Apache to be much more secure than IIS. So much so, that they use the mere mention of the name to ward off attacks of their vulnerable IIS servers.
id hasn't released diddly in the way of new games lately (sorry, but Quake 3 seems more like a demo to me), so I've had another new cpu or 2 since the 200, but lately I've been putting off getting a new system (especially the video card) because I'm waiting to see just what Doom3 will want to run decently.
A "demo" that many many people are still playing right now. I recommend Ultra Freeze Tag. A great team-based mod.
As someone who switched from Zoom Player to MPC, let me summarize the differences:
-Zoom Player is missing the very key feature of being able to drag a playlist item up/down in the list. Really. You have to click "up/down" to move them! Unforgivable, IMO
-ZP uses much more system resources and is a bigger download.
-ZP has many many many customizable options. If you can't configure ZP to do something, it probably hasn't even been thought of yet.
-Media Player Classic is a no-nonsense player that is most like WMP 6.4, except more codec support and a playlist. Some other stuff thrown in there too, but not a whole lot.
-It's smaller than 1 mb to download.
I use Thunderbird and I'm not aware of such problem with the "new email" icon. It shows up in my system tray and then goes away the instant I read *any* unread message.
I didn't expect such a detailed response, but thanks. I was just curious, and you definitely satisfied my curiousity.:) I would agree that as far as ISP provided "home pages" go, that is definitely a respectable one.
if the company isnt stupid enough to not use a firewall
How does this help with roaming laptop users? how about flash drives or similar?
if the tech support is stupid enough to not have virus scanners installed on all the client machines
How does this help when the virus hasn't yet been fingerprinted by your virus company? I have seen this with my own eyes. Machine becomes infected, I discover it's malicious, 1 week later Symantec marks it as a trojan. How exactly has the virus scanner helped in this case?
With the falling price of LCD's, coupled with the fact that battery life while listening to music on both devices could theoretically be the same (with battery life being less if you're watching video), it will mean that an ipod and a theoretical device the same size and cost with video capabillities will someday exist.
Are you sure about this? I've always thought that the LCD was the killer of batteries. Especially backlit LCDs. We've seen this in many portable video game systems, PDAs, and in all laptops.
Isn't this a well known thing? LCDs = bye battery life.
Interesting, but don't worry... Once Clear Channel gets ahold of it, it will be as good as current radio (not very) and we'll complain about it just as much as we do now.
What you are saying is that you would like to be King and live off the wealth of your people, while offering them little in return, after your first offering.
Are you kidding?! Dell is constantly changing their machine line up. Go look at their website support options where you choose your machine type. Look at the long list for each "Optiplex" or "Dimension".
Optiplex GX150, GX240, GX260, GX270 (plus two variations on the 260 and 270). Those were ones I've had to deal with in the last two years.
In other words, no, they will absolutely NOT be able to provide an identically configured PC in a year or two. Depending on how generic your image process is, you might have to change something every time they change the configuration.
Winamp skins now pop-up the save-as dialog like they should. I remember a time when they would do what you say, but I think that was an artifact of their "IE-optimized" coding on their previous layout.
There doesn't seem to be any problems with their new layout, so maybe they actually tested in more than one browser this time.
Uh, unless I'm missing something, you just described the exact functionality of tabbed browsing (with middle click) that is available right out of the box in Firebird.
You can also right-click a link and select either Open Link in New Window or Open Link in New Tab.
This has come up on another/. article about spam, and I happened to copy it down in case I need to use a "fake" address for "valuable products and offers."
If you buy dell then you are buying WMA. if you are buying HP you are buying into AAC
/.) that the HP/Apple deal is bringing WMA support to the iPod.
Not true, as there is already news (I believe it might have even been posted here on
If this happens, the iPod will truely be The One Portable To Rule Them All.
(Not that I give a rat's ass about WMAs myself...)

I agree with you 100% on your last comment.

Seems like a win for Apache in either case then.

So why did we have to wait until 9/11 to punish Iraq for these reasons that had nothing to do with 9/11? Does that make any sense to you?

Do you do this manually, or is there some setting in VMware to make it automatically switch to low priorty when the window isn't in focus?
If you have to do it manually, then I'd rather not bother, but if there's a setting for it, I'd like to know about it.
Bravo!

There are cheaper alternatives, that's for sure.
All I know is that Creative drivers are The Suck and can usually be counted on to be the buggiest of the lot.

Yeah, but I see those portable DVD players going for sub $200. I believe I've seen $139 at the lowest.
Why are you using search.earthink.net instead of google.com? Do you enjoy seeing "sponsored results" for the first 7 links of your search result?

That's quite egocentric.
If it wasn't for the regular security threats that need patching these days, Win98 could go on for a long time.
Couldn't the same be said about both Windows 2000 and Windows XP?
I assume you started your replacement cycle after the RPC (msblast) mess...

I have to ask...Have you ever used Firebird?
The Web Developer Toolbar is the most well executed browser extention I've seen yet. Truly professional work.
