    Powell is a nincompoop . He doesn't care that the main bell phone comp. had decades of monopolies. Competition only works if you are allowed to compete.

    The only solution I see is to federalize these copper lines because of they years of protected monopoly status for the bells and allow linesharing. Powell is for protectionism.

    You shouldn't be benchmarking with a game. The graphics card then plays a big role in the final results. There should be some cpu specific benchmarks that should be used. Wait for the Tom's Hardware tests. Guy has about 10 different benchmarks.

    Is it possible to use the processing power of these super graphics cards for math computations? They use simd instructions. I would think they could compete with regular CPU's in floating point.

    Hdtv standard is strange compared to computer standards. Why do they have to fix the resolution to 1000 x 800 ? It seems like it will be outdated in 3 years. Resolution should be going up to like 2000 x 2000 or just drop the Hdtv standard and switch to the flexible computer monitor resolutions .

    Computer Display technology would seem to be better and more flexible. HDTV sounds like some government program that's doomed for failure.

    I hope some entreprenuers out there start producing 30" wide Field Emission Displays with higher resolution and ditch HdTV standards. Hdtv was invented in the 60's or 70's I heard. Not very up to date .

    From what i have read about reconfigurable chips at Sci American and other websites is that while they can do wonder for certain applications they still can't match the wiring of a 'vector processor' . Vector chips are very efficient. I have always wondered why they industry has turned it's back on them. The linux/intel solution is not as efficient as everyone thinks. Too much heat and networking the chips has it's difficulties. The japanese nec vector supercomputer is way ahead now of USa.     Html, xml , whatever. Make the TV into a computer and wire the home for networking . It's the future. The only problem i have is that HDTV is already outdated. The resolution for computer monitors is much higher and better for dig. photography. It should be the other way around. Big screen TVs should have higher resolutiong for digital photography. Also cable tv is absolute garbage. Big Dish TV seems so much more ready for the future.
