Although you can usually chance the machine do dov.. for the time your there if you lean to touch type well enough and don't need the key map to find your way around.
Its worth the pain though... much faster, and no problems at all with rsi...
I'm using it, have been for a number of years now. Much faster once you get the hang of it and no pain at all. Before I was stuck to a MS Ergonomic keyboard or I could only code for a few minutes at a time before my arms gave out totally.
Why don't they teach it from scratch in schools? Using QWERTY makes about as much sense an using IE instead of Firefox!
Its extreamly easy to tap information from an optic fiber if you can get close enough physical contact with it. You don't even need to compleatly expose it.
The tap can be done with out either end of the connection having a clue.
Peter.
I too switched to Dvorak (but wish my MS Ergo keyboard had the right key lables when I get tired).
Best thing I ever did (but a bugger to learn after years of qwerty).
Do you know of anyone that sells keydoards already mapped to Dvorak. I've got little lables stuck on the side of the keys on one keyboard, but its not a great solution.
I'm with you. I switched to ergo keyboards and trackballs years ago when I started to find I couldn't feel the fingures on my left hand after typing on a normal keyboard for a while.
Never looked back.. The other thing I've done is learn to touch type using the DVORAK keyboard layout. I can highly recommend it (painfull to unlearn QWERTY as it may be). Much faster and less stress on the hands.
Peter.
where do you dig up a usb dvorak kbd? I can't even find a ps2 one for a half reasonable price.
