What are actually used in games are normal maps, which map a normal vector xyz component to each of the rgb components in an image. As to how they take more memory space, perhaps they just use a larger resolution on a bump map versus a color map due to differences in how each aliases
This is only when using the Aeroglass gui system; so presumably, you can turn off the eye-candy and enjoy full-excellerated GL. I wonder how Windows users who also run programs such as Maya/Blender/3dsMax/Lightwave will react to having thier programs broken.
Yeah, I saw that one too, where they had some ~19 year old college chick debating against senior fellows from the cato institute. I did appreciate the petition to ban water though.
This will catch on major on college campuses with WiFi access. I've been lately listening to other peoples playlists as I pass from class to class, wishing often I could grab a copy of something cool. It's like friendster for filesharing.
Curious.. Some of the comments make mention of glasses that everyone would wear all the time, interface with wireless "kiosks" or whatever while they're out walking the mall. Interesting if images could be created and inserted into someone's glasses which would trick the person into believing that this sent image is a real thing in thier environment... this would probably involve some serious tracking of the eyeballs, tech which probably wouldn't be in this particular incarnation (perhaps version 3.0). Just thought it might be a curiosity to some....
Becauase there are a lot of John Carmack fanboys.
