Actually this was pretty much how they dealt with homosexuality in the armed forces. They fought against it all the way to the European courts, and lost. But then they always wanted to lose, but just to be able to blame it on Europe.

  3. Zero offset on Value Propositions of Current CPUs Put to the Test · · Score: 1

It all depends where you draw the line for zero. If you only include the price of the processor of your system, then price will win. However if you factor the price of the whole system, the charts would look very different. Cheap spark plugs maybe ok in some VFM terms, but you wouldn't fit them in a Ferrari, or more realistically any new car.

And how many barrels of oil does it take to produce each tonne of produce(wheat/soyabeans/almnonds) in the US and EU?
The current agricultural model is unsustainable in the long term. And probably in the medium term too.

    By your own statistics,

The USA comes bottom of the graph in terms of giving as a percentage of GNI/GDP. (page 25)

And considering the percentage of this aid going to Israel, let alone Iraq. Your generosity does not seem so shiny.

  6. Starting out small. on ARM: The Non-Evil Monopolist · · Score: 1

Oddly one of the reasons ARM (then under a different name) designed such a small core is that they had no choice. They could not afford more advanced design software, so were limited in the number of components. By this they were forced into making an efficent design, working closely with apple for the doomed Newton.

I'd also agree on the music. Though I thought the original theme is still one of the best examples of theme music out there.

  10. 4 colour problem on Poincaré Conjecture May Be Solved · · Score: 1

Another recently ( last 30 years) solved problem involving 2d-spheres is the 4 colour problem. Since you can project a 2d sphere onto an infinite plane a lot of work on polygons helped with the 4 colour problem. Like the fact a polygon with just hexagons and pentagons always has exactly 12 pentagons.

I do wish the politicians concerned would give reasoning like this. We all seem to be conned by higher reasons for a war directly related to self interest. It is in America's and Britain's interest to have as many open capitalist societies as possible. Otherwise how do McDonalds/Starbucks keep growing.
