It can also .. . ewww ... be viscous.

  2. Re:Actually... on Canadian Music Industry Wants Royalties on Net Usage · · Score: 1

But paying for music I'm not copying, damn, it'd make me start copying. Absolutely! There's nothing like charging people for something they're not using to make them want to start doing it in overdrive. Hopefully legislators will see this and reject this scheme outright. IMO it gets back to product diversification - make sure the CD/DVD, whatever is worth the money they want you to pay - not overpriced product in a market saturated with mediocre talent.

Hmm I tend to disagree, as I find Thunderbird stable and highly useful, if a little eccentric in its UI. But the lack of installer, and any hidden bugs that are yet to surface will likely keep the basic user away until revlease of V 1.0.

I had more problems with Firebird, it can be slowish to load, but the current version is much better, and IMO its more stable than Opera 7.0 and less bulky than Mozilla.

Certainly something to consider for a competent and intermediate user, which the original poster sounds like.

Just like there a shill bidders and fake accounts on ebay, no system is perfect, and there are always going to be wankers who steal.

But not doing something like this just falls for the average right-wing love-the-market-economy ideas that has a 100 percent chance of fucking up the planet and everyone on it in real life.

It's amazing how powerful peer moderated systems can be. Look at E-bay - would you buy from anyone with one negative rating, let alone half a dozen? It's so powerful some doofus went to court over it in the US to keep his name clean.

And I'd love to be able to keep track of all those books I've lent out to friends in my peer community over the years. So many lost, so many spaces on the bookshelf.

Not to mention his facial reconstruction - he's a completely different man - I'm surprised we haven't seen conspiracy theories telling how Mick got jack of Keef and offed him years ago, replacing him with a more flexible, but less talented musician. 'Cept they've been dissapointing since about 1975 and Keef got the new jaw in the 80's sometime I think.

  6. Antiques and sentimental value on Diamonds - Are They Really Worth the Cost? · · Score: 1

I gave my wife an old green sapphire ring that had belonged to my mother. We were pretty tight for cash, and to be frank I thought diamond rings were something that everyone else did. So I gave her one of my Mum's old rings and she couldn't have been happy. Trust me she will be stoked enough just to be asked. And if she insists on diamonds, well start wondering why you're with her.
