It almost sounds like they are more worried about being embarrased than being hacked. At least with regular hack attempts, there's no one filming and distributing it - there's no audience.
Except that by the end of the 6 months, every time someone walked up to you, you'd want to trade with them. Or order them to remove their forces at once or prepare for war!
No Moby, the reason 18 isn't selling as well as Play did is because it's no where near as good as Play was. I can listen to Play over and over again, but I got bored with 18 after about a week.
Does this mean Artists will now start blaming the Internet whenever they produce a bad record and it doesn't sell?
By that logic, then if I buy a share of Sony, and then sell that share to my friend, Sony should get some money from both sales (and every sale after that). Do they really want to crash our ecconmic system?
By controlling everything themselves they hope to limit the damage done by
those looking for ways to cheat.
Isn't that the exact same approach Microsoft takes to Windows security?
They think that if they control the code, no-one with be able to find the
holes. Security through obscurity...
If companies didn't market their products there would be no product awareness by the consumer and they wouldn't know to buy the product.
Yeah, that can be a real problem for me when I'm in a store and there's a product I want to buy, but I haven't seen the commercial for it yet, so I don't know if I'm supposed to buy it or not.
Hmmm... so if you do buy a product, and it turns out to not live up to how it was advertised, should you then boycott any TV programming that features adverts for that product?
Hmmm... but if there were zero ads on television, then the companys that normally advertise on television would potentially be spending less on advertising, and therefore could sell their products at a lower cost, which could lead to increased sales, and would leave more money in the pockets of consumers to then spend on quality television. That may sound naive, but I've always wondered what the world would be like without marketing...
I can understand why some would be sensitive to the whole FPS game genre (first person is more graphic). But why not allow them to play any FPS game as long as they don't kill anyone. I'm thinking of games like Deus Ex and Thief where it is possible to play the game without ever killing. Then you can argue you're actually teaching the kids something (Victory through Non-Violence).

That's probably a good question for Ted Turner...
