I managed a website project where off-the-shelf customized would cost us around 10K$ but the boss went with full-custom-tied-to-one-supplier for 60K$... go figure.
I lived in an area where doing 100mph in a 60mph was being friendly to other drivers. Point is, it matters where you live! Thank god (or any other universe entity) for country living. As long as you give a damn of other drivers around, you will not get arrested around here (exact area not disclosed) the police will NOT come after you for doing 30KPH over the limit. Hell, I even did tata to the cops!
LOL, but getting back to topic in a serious manner... I do not have kids but...
I kicked TV out of my life about 10 years ago... and I could not be happier. I still download my top 3 shows and the occasionnal movie, but without the ads. It makes a world difference (no ads). I think the ads are the worst.
I personnaly could afford to give money and 1 year of my time to a charitable entity. To actually help others get off the streets or off drugs is a terrific experience. I plan doing that for my retirement as it was the best experience of my life yet.
Most of the time, when you get rich, you do so leveraging an infrastructure mostly paid for by average workers (roads, electricity, water, etc...) It only makes sense they contribute back to the system that enabled them to rise in the first place. In the US, the interstate and space program was paid for by taxing the very rich something like 90% of their income. Bear in mind it happened just after the great depression of the 30's and it was a compromise to not just take everething past 1 million dollars (not sure of the exact figure, may have been 100,000$US then).
It has been a trend going back from... war against Spain I guess. It is effectively the US standard operating procedure against anyone who dont have a nuke capability.
It would not accept resupply from space ships of other companies/agencies... It would be able to do only one thing at a time and have rounded corners. Radio reception would be spotty at best. Nasa would have to sue every other countries because thay too have stuff in space that orbits, but it would be shiny and hippy. Seriously, we dont need that, he did enough damage already!
Most commercial aircrafts (not helicopters as in TFA/TFS) can land without much human interaction today. I think it stands for a technical solution already in place today.
I have tried both and came to the decision that people ain't that interesting. You end up talking the same old shit to the same old people.
The Internet on the other hand, well, you can spend your nights repetitively shooting people in the face from your favourite corner of some make believe world.
I guess my only point is that I don't have one. Each to their own.
Internet is very interesting to me... heck I am on Slashdot now! But I found I could better myself at a pace faster if I dont have too much distractions in my life. I think we are kind of on the same page here.
I got rid of most electronics years ago and I realised high end stereo, tv and such are not necessary for happiness, quite the contrary. I obviously own a computer since I am posting on Slashdot regularly but it is a simple light laptop. I end up nspending more times with friends and outdoor and the lifestyle change has made me more happy.
There is a point in reducing distractions and growing real interactions to achieve a better more fulfilling life.
I just opened to the community... and I will have to live it through. Good for me I am stronger now, but no, I will not have an employee discount. Point was, he is probably not that bad in life as I, or many other people, went through. I even have the courage to Slashdot it using my login name...
Being employed in factory when you are used to have direct access to the big boss is not an easy thing to do. Please, be respecful to those who open up.
Come on, my point was, he has learned valuable lessons and much more people are much more poor and dissatisfied than him in life. We all carry our crosses, so to speak, in a way or another.
This kind of rant will not bring anything useful to the conversation. Please get a life.
1. First job, not even out of college, I got sucked into a marketing firm that was doing... okay... And I invested time (a lot) to make things going from ok to profitable. I n exchange I was supposed (no contract... I was naive) to inherit 50% of company. I even worked over 100 hours per week sometime, no overtime charged, only vacation 1/1. All that just above minimum wage.
2. I changed jobs 10 years after because the first company got bankrupt. But at that point I was exhausted, as in depression exhausted. I rided it for over a year (good pay, good insurance plan etc...) but not two. When I finally fell, I was unable to work for over a year. That is when I decided to move to the country, no matter what, cause I cant stand stress anymore. Even to that day.
3. I worked as fuckin representative for a clothing company based in my new home town. Middle of the wood to be precise. But it was a family business, and the niece of the big boss was my boss and she knew I was more competent than her. Felling cornered, shed cornered me out of a job using clever and subtile subterfuges.
4. I am currently unemployed, developped a C++ library to handle fuzzy inputs (ai principles applied to user inputs to resolve them in certain time), and no one would employ me around because I have the tag "depression" hangned around my neck. I will probably go to work again in couple weeks as labor for a cheese factory, me, professional of communication products and hobby programming guru.
Life is a bitch... as they say. Is it your bitch? That is the question.

On-die cache is much more about latency than bandwidth.

You choose to buy a laptop running Microsoft. You can find some laptops (system76, etc...) that comes with Linux pre-installed. Now, get off my lawn!

Respecfully, gagol, 12+ beers and counting...
you want to take away more of the rich people's money so they won't spend it on space vacations?
That is exactly how the great depression ended... space vacation aside.

Sure, I saw your post about you only fucking other men! Kudos to you! And! Yahoo! Rocks!
most helicoper that have a cameraman with a working camera in it do not carry realtime image processing specialist OR equipment...
+5 drôle

I live in a very small community by choice... with its good and bad. So far the goods are far more important to me than the bads.

If that works for you, then kudos. I am all for happiness! I am not promoting a religion here, merely stating my simple story.
Sorry about that. -Google translate

Personally, I would hand carry any media I wanted to protect. The data is important, the hardware is an inconvenience.
Exactly what I was thinking. Are you loading the container yourself? If so, add lots extra padding.
So you never eat fatty food, never use salt, etc...? Blame bad eaters first.
So the contractors can continue to suck your money for no real good reason. It is called a "business plan".
