As a person with almost no faith with the government (especially now), I'm inclined to believe these laws may actually go through. Therefore, what ways are there to get around this assuming they are put in place. For example PGP doesn't work on e-mail headers (not that I e-mail people who know the slightest thing about encryption). Also with Browsing proxy servers are there that offer encryption and are hopefully free. I'm affraid my post doesn't offer much information, but I'm hoping people who do know stuff might be able to give informative replies (Flames about the government sucking (definitely true) won't really help with reality.
If the lawmakers are actually interested in doing good, they may say that open source software is exempt from liability requirements (because if there are problems you could have seen them in the source!). So, enforced liability could really be good for the FSF.
Not necessarily bad for open source.

While many Linux advocates prefer installing purely with a text based installer and do not use autoprobing, one can get Linux installed much more easily than Windows. Windows will eat up your whole harddrive and many times it just is unwilling to install. I have never had a problem installing with the Redhat installer. In addition, using email is much easier with Linux, it's built in!
Obviously Linux does not have the same problems as windows, and it is designed in a way that it should always be more secure. But, isn't this a just the beginning of of viri now that a significant amount of people uses alternative operating systems like Linux. Are there any good virus protection programs for Linux? If so do they compare to Nortan
Slashdot may be bloglike in its listing of news. However, I have come to the conclusion Slashdot is so much more than a blog because (a) as others have pointed out it is not so personal and acts as a portal to news sites but more importantly (b) there are forums through comments such as these, which make Slasdot so much more than a blog.
Moderators should realize that the parent post "Good Website" links to an utterly obscene page and should be moderated down to -1 immediately.
