    The "hordes of yarmulka-wearing, Torah-toting suicide bombers blowing up Palestinian children on their way to school" were doing this from the late 1930's until 1948. They stopped after they got their own independant nation. Clearly terrorism does work, you just have to paint over the evidence after you've won.

    Roger Clarke is a Visiting Fellow at the Department of Compuer Science, Australian National University. He has published a number of papers on the issues of censorship and net freedoms.

    It isn't the feature that would be the problem but what they did with it that would be the issue. If they used it to break/keep out software that should work across all distos then they would be in trouble. Taking out and putting in features on their own terms, in this case which version of Java, is a clear example of monopolistic practices. It isn't the product, but how it is used/abused.

    An unlimited supply of stones and boxes. You still can compute everything (in the Turing sense)with these tried and tested implements.

    Most chess programs I have written play like this, although it wasn't my initial intention.
