Don't know about a Dreamcast, but we certainly wouldn't notice a couple of extra PS2's, GameCubes or XBoxen lying around (I work in a games studio). A bootable CD for the PC is quite worrying too.
For C++ I would recommend "Thinking in C++", and for Java the similarly titled "Thinking in Java".
In fact, when I was a Java programmer, I think I leant just as much from T.I.C++ as I did from T.I.J, as it talks about the OOP model from a much lower level.
Fake it may be (I've not tried it), but it did get me thinking... Given that the machine trying to attack your apache box is infected, surely it would be possible to shut it down via a cgi script.
I'm sure it would be legal too, as long as you didn't actually delete any data on the Windows box, you could claim that you acted in self defence.
The speed of sound changes with air pressure. When the skydiver is at great altitude, he might travel faster than the speed of sound at sea level, but he will not be travelling faster than the speed of sound at his altitude.
If he did break the sound barrier, he'd probably be shaken to pieces, which would be quite funny.
Strange; the first thing I thought of when I saw that comment was the program "nipple" we use at work. We use it to adjust "TweakVariables" which are objects that act just like floats, ints, etc, but can be tweaked in real time.
Disclaimer: I know very little of what goes on at kernel level on a unix system.
Does anybody else find it worrying that the kernel is by far the largest component of RHL? I kinda expected it to be one of the smaller of the large projects; way smaller than the likes of KDE / GNOME / Gimp / etc..
Yes, people used to do this when I was at university. Most lecturers really don't care (nor even notice) who turns up for lectures.
That said, if you're looking to refresh high school level maths, then an undergraduate course might be a bit over your head. It would definately be beyond me, and I use high school level math most days at work.
Quite funny (well, not funny actually) that this reqest is just underneath a post saying:
"Now this patch needs to be applied to all affected systems, now it is time for the SA's and the what not of the world to step up"
An ill administered *nix box is much more useful for a hacker than an ill administered Windows box.
To pkplex; it is your responsibility to the public internet to go fetch a copy and compile it yourself. If you're new to that, then don't worry, it's not too difficult, and there are plenty of HOWTO's etc on the web.
The article states that the patient lost his sight 20 years ago, but before that, could see just fine.
"The device doesn't work for all types of blindness. People who were blind from birth, or who lost their vision in childhood are not expected to benefit because their visual cortexes would not have developed fully, Smith said."
Suppose this wasn't the case, and you could give sight to somebody who had never seen before. Would their brains be able to interpret the flow of new information?
Here's the argument for...
Peter Parker seems to be able to use his spider sense quite well.
Jedi use their feeling of the force, a sense which most do not posses (but then again it does take years of training).
You've not seen a GameCube development kit; they're bloody enormous! They're about the same size as two XBoxes stacked on top of each other.

Funny, but also very very true.
And I bet they were already advocates before the meeting! ;)

SuperModel is our own modeller, as used for MotoGP on the XBox.
Welcome to the world of proprietary software.
Then there's no reason why you shouldn't be just as good at perl after a bit of practice. Coding is coding is coding. :)
How could I possibly learn emacs in such a short space of time? ;P
The chair would, of course, need to be controlled by a joystick on one of (or preferably both of...) the armrests.

I love hacking a linux box as much as the next man, but I can't disagree with any of the opinions in the article :\
Even the filtering on hotmail (boo, hiss!) grabs about 90% of my spam.
"Sweeden? Is that a state? No, it's a country in that place called Europe.
Utter non-news.
Enough rambling... must sleep.
So what?! If that's what the public want, you bet Sony's gonna sell it! ;)

Most of the car `modification` types in the UK can hardly read, let alone use a computer (unless it's stolen, that is).

Any thoughts?
Scenario 1: European connectivity takes a huge hit.
We'll all know when it occurs.
Scenario 2: European connectivity remains unchanged. ;)
It doesn't matter when it happened!
