Totally OT, but you missed the repliers point. When you disagree with someone, you have at least two options. You could:

    1) Submit a post that provides an argument, preferably backed up with some data.
    2) You could call the original poster a "chump" (or some other disparaging remark) and use a meaningless comparison as your discussion point.

Guess which of these two options is better?

So, anyone that disagrees with this usage is a "nutcase" or a "troll"? That brings up the question: Do you always use ad-hominum attacks as a way to defend yourself?

I notice two things about your links: 1) the Dictionary.com reference uses Wordnet.com, a source from your previous link late last week. 2) Merriam-Webster lists the usage you like third in it's list.

Whether you like it or not, the usage of "America" to refer to the United States can be insulting to folks of other countries. If you are are salesperson, or you have some other job that requires interaction with people from North or South America, it means that you must be sensitive to the situation. And, that is not a troll.

Die.net? Honestly, why should I trust a site that appears to be run by somebody out of their parent's basement? And, they get their information from Wordnet.com? Some private company out of Milwaukee? Give me a better source.

I am not wrong on this. America is a term for a continent. United States of America is a term for a country. Ask those other posters from Brazil and Canada who also posted to this discussion.

Does she also take intra-muscular B12 shots? Vegans are usually these pale and frail people, and really need to watch themselves. It's quite unnatural to be a vegan.

She does take her B-Vitamins. And, while she is rather small, she is neither pale nor frail. She works out on a fairly regular basis. For a while, she did Tae-Bo.

We have one 18-month old child. She was incredible during the pregnancy. She increased all of her vitamin and protein intake to well byond what was recommended. At birth our son was healthy and weighed over 8 lbs. He still is doing quite well and I personally think her effort during pregnancy is the main reason for his good health.

My wife is a vegan. No meat products and absolutely no dairy products. She mainly eats green vegetables, tofu, fruit, soy cheese, soy milk and some organic bread products. She does drink protein shakes in order to ensure her intake of protein is high.

She does allow herself a few deviled eggs during the holiday season. And, once or twice a year, she may have mayonaisse as part of a macaroni salad.

Some vegans don't drink alcohol and they may even live in a commune. Thankfully, we live in a real house. And, she loves wine. Actually, with wine, I remember one time day, i wanted to have some of my leftover Hunan Chicken for lunch. I went to the referigerator and couldn't find any. Turns out, she got so drunk the night before, she decided to eat what she thought was a Fried Tofu dish.

Kind of funny, actually. AFAIK, that was the only time in ten years of being vegan that she ate meat.

I never said I was confused. I am saying that people are using the term America incorrectly. There are about thirty or forty countries or so that are part of America (if you include South America). If you want to be specific about what country you are referring to, then you should refer to the United States or even "The" States.
