  1. Yea! on Ed Felten in the Economist · · Score: 0

Go Felten! We all deserve the "right to tinker". I mean think about it, if you buy it, it's your hardware, or software. You should have the right to do whatever you want with your own property. Stay out government!! BTW: The EFF is awesome. I don't know why they would firewall it. All it is, is a site that supports the freedoms of Internet users. Ask your company to remove it from the blacklist.

  5. Re:More reviews on Pentium 4 2.8GHz · · Score: 1

I think perhaps you missed their subtle point, in your blind pro-Intel-ness. Perhaps they shoul've chosen a slightly lower priced car than a Ferrari, but the point was, that the Mercedes fit Intel CPU's well, because they are extremely expensive and have a lot of luxaries. The stripped-down Ferrari fits AMD well, because they are fast and cheap(like I said before, there could have been a better choice).

  6. AMD Kicks Some Ass on Pentium 4 2.8GHz · · Score: 1

You really have to take these benchmarks and processor comparisons with a grain of salt, because the performance difference is not completely dependent upon the processor speed. For example, the top speed of AMD-compatible DDR RAM at the moment is 400 MHz with a VIA KT400 chipset mobo(tho its not out yet), and the top speed of Intel-Compatible RDRAM is 1066 MHz. It makes a difference. Also the FSB's are quite different. My advice for AMD, up your FSB, help DDR RAM get faster, and you'll leave Intel crying in a corner.

  7. What about Nvidia on VisionTek Folds · · Score: 1

If such a large company in the tech world, like Visiontek can go under. What about NVidia? They've been declining and recently they announced they did not hit their targets for Q2. Could this be a sign of NVidia's demise too?

  8. My commendation on Ballmer Admits 'Linux Changed Our Game' · · Score: 1

I really have to commend Microsoft on this one. It took them long enough, but finally they're doing the mature thing and acknowledging Linux's power. I love that Ghandi quote by the way.

  9. Re:This isn't uncommon on RoadRunner Blocking Use of Kazaa · · Score: 1

I for one would not take it. This is completely hypocritical of RoadRunner. They claim that you get "Unlimited access with NO hourly charges!", on their site. If they don't want to contradict themselves perhaps they should say, "Unlimited access to a point, where that point is when we decide you use too much bandwidth."

  10. NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOO on Microsoft's 'Palladium' Privacy/DRM Scheme · · Score: 1

This is a horrible idea, and noone sane will adopt it!! Think about it! Integrated security into CPU's. This also means integrated anti-piracy, fair-use "security" too! And no one has the ability to tell whether Microsoft will sneak some kind of "extra feature" into the product!

  11. Computer Science AP Exams = Hell on Are Written Computer Science Exams a Fair Measure? · · Score: 1

I don't know about everyone else, but the way I code is I write a chunk, compile, and run to see how it looks, then write another chunk..etc..

Comp Science AP exams really blow. They make you sit there for 3 hours, writing by hand, and trying to sift through these useless functions they come up with. PLUS they make you use their proprietary classes instead of standard ones. I think College Board is spread a bit too thin, perhaps standardized testing shouldn't be administered by a company out for a profit.
