This is a trick. Don't fall for it.
Seriously, all "content" producers are starting
to introduce new "tools" that promise great new stuff, but are really Trojan horses for DRM.
I say no.
Let the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) and the MPA (Motion Picture Association) engage in a war of technology and wits with the youth of the world but, for God's sake, let's not commit the force of law and the resources of our government to another hopeless war against our own future.
It pisses me off that you can hardly tell the difference (if any) between Congress and the board of directors for Disney.
I'm a dinosaur: 51yo, IBM mainframe background, lost my technical edge years ago, can't stand being a lying salesman, can't delegate well enough to be a manager, and don't have two dimes to rub together.
Is there any hope for me?
Thanks, I'll listen to your answer offline.
Um....why is it that we've allowed Bill Gates to set the bar so low? Why is it so unreasonable that "normal" people learn some lore and acquire a bit of geekiness in order to run a computer?
Honestly, I don't see why it's a benefit to anyone that my mom can fire up a PC and use AOL. She can make my life hell using the tried and true telephone: if you give her anything easier, she might just turn on YOU!
Hah...didn't think of that, did you?
It really upsets me that someone who was on the forefront of p2p networking and is now giving an opportunity to speak to the masses via newspaper completely wastes this opportunity to explain the pro-p2p viewpoint to everyone.
Fanning was on the forefront by default. I don't think he ever really understood where he was.
But there's an obvious explanation for lagging CD sales. As anyone who's bought a new CD recently can tell you, they've over priced by about 100%. The list price on the newly remaster Stones' discs is $18.98, and that's with NO "bonus" material. Really, how many do they expect to sell?
NBL (not bloody likely): it was named "PATRIOT" precisely so that no one would have the balls to vote against it....sigh.... Sometimes I'm just so proud to be an amurican.
