"Truth in Advertising" has been on the books for many many years. In a sense that is all that this law is and no one on this side of the pond seems to have an objection to it at its core. The stretch with this particular law is that they are not lying about the product they are advertising (what the existing "Truth In Advertising" laws work with). This is lying about the models endorsing their product. It's a fairly grey line between the two. Whether that distinction is enough to make one law legit in the US and one law not is why discussions on the minutia of the 1st Amendment are so interesting.

Ya. The work I do is (or at least was) constantly butting up against ITAR. You'd be surprised how easy it is to be in violation and the penalties are pretty effing severe if you get caught. We have training every year to fresh and remind us how to not potentially commit a company-ending mistake. Usually we come out of said training ticking off the various infractions that may have occurred in the past or even semi regularly.

You'd also be surprised what all falls under the label "arms" as our company is not involved in any way what-so-ever with the production of anything that could be used to inflict damage on another person/entity's body or property (my, maybe limited, definition of the word)

1/5 Macs have Windows malware. Disturbing percentage unless you consider the fact most Mac users don't install Anti-Virus because they don't feel the need. Ergo, any Malware floating around the usual channels will find its way to their host and stick there.

I'd rather compare that number (1/5) and the 1/36 number of actual Mac viruses to the current infection rate of PCs... ? Are they closer to the 1/5 or the 1/36 or some other relevant number?

If his point is just that NDAs get out of control then be prepared to negotiate a "clean" NDA if he really wants the business. If he's got all the business he needs (as the OP seems to imply) then he should feel free to turn down any business he wants... I'm glad AC's comment got modded into visibility. He's apparently the only one who RTFA. This is not an across the board policy for all purchased merchandise. This is a "probation" of sorts that people who fail the analytics get put into to reduce at least the frequency of fraud.

As stated in the article they accept over 99% of all returns. Only people who show a pattern of potentially illegitimate returns get put on this limitation.

A lot of people are crying foul for a variety of reasons... maybe this isn't the best method but it's about all they have and they are literally losing Billions to a pretty damn widespread abuse of their extremely friendly return policy... so give them a little credit for trying. Other policies such as well advertised prohibitions on returning Big Screen TVs around super bowl time have been in place for years. (Yes sir... you can purchase a TV right now but we're just saying that we will charge you an automatic restocking fee if you return it no matter the condition or reason.) those methods were not sufficient.

Best Buy has a lot of problems to fix not the least of which is the decimation of their business model by internet retailers. That being said there are a lot of people who are going to legitimately miss them if they do go out of business. (There goes your free "demo room" and "rental shop" or just place I can grab something that I need "right now" not shipping time.) Something to consider in the midst of all this Best Buy bashing.

I mean don't get me wrong... we still had to push the accessories and warranties but not a vicious as now and frankly we were regularly trained on the products so if the sales staff weren't up-to-speed it was not for lack of trying. Not sure where they took such a hard wrong turn but losing money to Amazon and other online retailers seems to definitely be an instigator. (We're losing money... how do we fix it?!? "Release the hounds!")

So anyway... as far as CC was concerned it was laughable. I'd stop in every once in a while just to see how bad it was. Best part was when some irritated customer (cause we wouldn't reduce our price just for the asking, etc) would exclaim "I'm going to Circuit City!" We would in no way stop them... even encourage them because we could set our clocks by how quickly we *knew* they would come back, tail between the legs, a MUCH friendlier customer.

Biggest issue for me is price. I wouldn't like the form factor enough to replace my phone with it BUT I would appreciate having the HUD capabilities occasionally. $250-$600 is just a bit too high for my tastes for an accessory.

SO have the "integrated" version that sells for that price range. The have the bluetooth version that is basically the HUD w/ built in camera for maybe the $100-$250 range?
