    Yes it absolutely was. I remember traveling to Toronto from NY and spending about 2-3k on clothes, electronics and other goodies back in 99 and LOVED the difference my CC bill had.

    Let's put this into perspective

    He's asking for remote access help which notably involves a GUI and from that we can surmise he doesn't know what he's doing and also what he's accessing doesn't require that much security anyways because quite frankly, if it did, he's vastly under qualified to begin with nor does he have a sense of the importance of his information. Google would have helped him far more than this "article".

    Windows includes RDP, and Apple includes both VNC and ARD. Linux distros have repos with vnc in them as well

    Teamviewer also only initializes the connection. That's it. The entire session doesn't go through their servers, or at least they didn't the last I checked.

    SL is great, but ML is leaps ahead of Lion. After running the GM since its release I can say it's noticeably faster on my early 2009 mac mini.

    Prowl: For push notifications. It's free and you will find the perl script handy. There are some powershell ones floating around somewhere too. http://www.prowlapp.com/
    Prompt: CLI. If you jailbreak (highly recommended) you can ssh to localhost, it's better than any Terminal app in cydia. http://itun.es/i624Jj
    There are others but I never use them. My coworker and i opted for a home brewed app that handled a lot of our needs by phone in the event we had to be called about something off-hours.
