Do you know if GDS caches what's in removable hard drives and label's them by hard drive serial number, or is there another app that does this and keep's a cache of the files you access?
I'm looking to index about 30-40 CD-R's and a couple removable hard drives (USB and one FIREWIRE).
Any suggestions for that so I can do a quick search and come up with all results for all disc's?
I'm not sure when the "gazillion" number of interviews came in. The most I have ever done is two. One to ask teh general quiestions, see what type of a person I was. The second one for more techincal questions and tests.
Hell, more often than not I've been hired without an interview by simply submitting my resume; and one job lasted me three years as a junior NT/UNIX admin back in 1997 right after high school!
Why the excess (and yes it is OVERKILL) in having so many interviews? what gives?
kidding and half-serious remarks aside. This wouldn't surprise me. But humanity has to come a long way from where we are now before we can start interacting with other civilizations and another planet's many other races/governments etc.
Hell... let's draft the first version of a "Prime Directive" now. Leave them alone unless they're as advanced as us, type of a thing./could be so//I hope
I haven't released it, nor do I intend to. But I tested it out on my lan (about 10 pcs).
"Infect" one computer through your preferred insertion method (email, website, java, whatever) and let it go.
It doesn't patch anything. It sets up and installs CORRECTLY with no back doors a firewall, probably the free version of ZoneAlarm or a home brew/maybe OSS w32 firewall.
It allows NOTHING through it except this little "worm" to communicate through an encrypted p2p network that a system was taken offline.
There is a little.pdf or.txt that screams loudly READ THIS NOW TO GET BACK ON THE INTERNET. There are two or three copies of this so the user get's the point. It outlines how the user was blocked offline, includes the sourcecode in c:\"whiteworm" to the worm and the copy of ZA (free trial version of course)/ or whatever OSS w32 firewall you installed was (with source, of course).
What do you think? I've been dying to c0de something like that for so flipping long it just might happen. Heh. ANyways. Let me know. gmail me or something
Just because he's ranting about the truth means you can mod him into oblivion. Most are scared to voice out, or not observant enough to notice certian submitters are "frequently" getting headlines.
It's irritating when that happens especially when you want to submit a story you KNOW hasn't been on slashdot before, but get rejected only to have one of these "frequent" headliners post "dupes" or an ask slashdot that could have easily been looked up on google.
Man, this guy has my sympathies and support. Don't mod because the tone of his post is harsh. LISTEN and act instead of reacting.
Hey, thanks for that link. I missed it (sometimes I miss a barn in front of me) for some reason. The E911 service makes sense for another responder to my question.
Thought manditory/almost manditory information insertion isn't absurd, just annoyance at best if you have no other way to dial 911.
and by manditory, I mean if the system can detect if you are definitely out of state or really out of your area. Maybe even have the information not be manditory (since hotels and relatives/friends have phones you can use).
I've heard many people for an against VoIP regulation, most people make valid points with it. My personal opinion is leave it unregulated and unencumbered by law.
My only issue is that of 911 calls. Like one poster mentioned about location (sorry, Quantumriff but it's a good one) , if I lived in LA but had a New York area code then visited relatives in New Mexico, how would the 911 issue be fixed?
They don't have to provide this service at all (to the best of my knowledge) but if they had to/or are willing here's what I suggest.
Make it based on IP/range etc. When you plug in and log-on, have a dialog setup for voluntary or manditory address insertion before you can use the phone. Shouldn't take too long right? That way your info can be transmitted via the VoIP service to the 911 center and have the correct information.
Once you plugged in again to the system, you can opt to have that information perminantly deleted or kept in your account for future if it's a frequented place of yours.
It's actually below freezing, heavily overcast and dull as hell. Now I know why everyone with an IQ under 150 is irritable and gloomy. What is it with people and the weather that their moods are totally dependant on sunshine for "feeling" good?
Oh BOLD AC, you know not of what you speak. Look at our UID's and you'll relize my tale came LONG before any such free iPod deals were a twinkle in their daddy's eye.
It does work. You fill out offers from three companies and wait. In my case, two visa's and AOL. Once the iPod came AOL was cancelled (under the no billing time) and the visa's were cancelled. I used a P.O. Box from a company that would accept packages from ups and fedex (MBE). After I had gotten two iPods, the MBE account, AOL, temp hotmail address and Visa cards were cancelled.
What I like from his blog. If only they had spent some of that money on improving the security of their users by, say, purchasing a VeriSign code signing certificate.
Once the Mozilla org. starts signing their binaries, Microsoft will apply an update to their certificates library to totally not trust FF to install or run.
Why is this modded as troll? Most users do exactly the same thing. They don't care, nor do they abide by the insanely limiting EULA's and sometimes just break them because it's easier than not.
I only read EULA's that involve interactions with my personal banking online, credit cards etc. For example, eBay, paypal, my online bank, other internet stores that save your information. Many others do the same.
But EULA's for software? No. I've never even read the GPL, but know enough about it to realize it's one (not the only) of the best things out there for software.
CrazyJim0 has a point. DOn't downmod him because he presents his case in a rough or unprofessional way. Then again this is slashdot. No professionalism here, just craftily and elegantly worded trolls with very few actually insightful comments./end rant.

Actually, one of the blue - thank you very much. And I agree with the grandparent's post.

i get the forumula - but expressing for the first itme my irritation.
... I haven't checked to see if the parent post is plagerized or anything but it's a valid point. Kudos.
My post above states similar facts, though more ambiguous than hard data.
Good work, son.

Does that sound viable? Opinions please!

these people depress me, not the weather!
every time I hear that mentioned, I think of a vacation near Sri Lanka when a buddy of mine said to me while we were leaving
I love that little island.. what was it called?..
Awww Phuket!
err.. look at my uid and it came long before the free iPod deals.
bleh. it's still early.
Set up my account in the last couple of hours?

No junk mail at my house. No spam. Free iPods.
I'm not complaining.

Yeah, way to go. Not falling for that one.
