The generally *horrid* quality of math education makes it impossible for students in STEM majors with little to no need for calc to get through the required math classes.
Also the NSLU2 can be upgraded to debian through purely software upgrades. The power supply tops out at 10W.
I use one with a 1GB flash drive for web, ssh and file serving (though I use sftp rather than nfs).
1) Hand over passwords 2) Commit illegal online acts 3) Cite inevitable failure of state security audit as proof that your username/password can no longer be uniquely tied to you 4) Reasonable doubt acquittal
Virtual systems will NOT properly reflect the overhead. The I/O costs in a VM are much higher than those on real hardware. Test the system you are going to have, not a mock-up.
As of last July, 34 states had laws requiring consumer notification. Some are triggered directly immediately upon the loss, others only if the data is considered "at-risk". It's hard to take TFA seriously when it can't even get basic facts correct that can be found in less time than it took to write this comment...
Yeah, I read it. Did you get past the whitewash summary you seem to be parroting and actually read the proposed rule?
"CBP is proposing two transmission options for air carriers to
select from at their discretion: (i) the submission of complete
manifests no later than 60 minutes prior to departure or (ii)
transmitting passenger data as individual, real-time transactions,
i.e., as each passenger checks in, up to but no later than 15 minutes
prior to departure. Under both options, the carrier will not permit the
boarding of a passenger unless the passenger has been cleared by CBP."
Hate to break it to you, but there's a >million solar mass black hole at the center of our galaxy. We're not considered an "Active Galaxy" only because it is on a diet.
In Minnesota such a requirement is null and void. If you really are worried, consult a lawyer and find out your actual rights.
At one former employer, they sent such a "required" form to the newly acquired Minnesota office. Each and every employee filed it in the circular file. They couldn't even complain without opening themselves up to a lawsuit.
Actually, there are several relationships between various physical properties of the projectile, the target and the ejecta.
the ratio of the densities of the projectile and the target and the distribution of ejecta allow you to determine the velocity (times the sine of the impact angle).
the ratio of densities is related to the diameter to the crater diameter
(others I don't remember right now... physics was a while ago)
That said, typically the impact velocity is assumed from the orbital velocity and the location of the strike...
You must be joking. Have you never worked
with someone from HR? They will happily disclose sensitive data,
nevermind metadata, and most of them don't even know what private
tags are.
There's a new idea in field I am incapable of getting a job in that is gaining in popularity among people I wish cared about my opinions. Buzzword I am dissing is intended to address common problems that buzzword everyone likes doesn't address well, plus something into which I have no insight. However, buzzword I am dissing is a risky solution: Complaint which betrays my ignorance and has been likened to somthing everyone hates. attack by analogy. Buzzword I am dissing will find some uses among people I secretly envy, but for the needs of (me) typical application developers, language gurus would do better to write something I can understand. My paper is important, pay me $50/page to read it.
SpiderOak (https://spideroak.com/business/) encrypts locally before putting the data into their cloud and supports linux AD.
Worth looking into, I guess.
The culture most radically opposed to our own just accepted one of our core tennants: Fairness.
Or as David Brin said the year he was GoH at MiniCon, "Accept our dogma of tolerance or we will crush you"
Linux default config is optimized for spinning platters. You have to tweak a few things to get the best performance.

Rest of thread is people with ownership issues.
Just wish I had one ...

It's been done.
Now that would be old news.
