  1. Re:Role or Roll playing? on Putting The RPG Back Into MMORPG · · Score: 1, Insightful

    1. Any reward or penalty system has to be administered in a regulated fashion or else a game's fee paying subscribers will call foul. 2. Any regulated reward or penalty system will be analysed, broken down and details posted on every HJ fan site and forum. 3. Role playing goes out the window as in all MMORPGs (dedicated RPG servers apart) as people do whatever it takes to climb the ladder. Be a real geek - get a stack of rule books and a pound of dice if you want to roleplay.

  2. Re:Why would you WANT to bring the Daleks back? on Dr Who, Daleks Kiss And Make Up · · Score: 1, Insightful

"Genesis of the Daleks" is a classic and infinitely better than "Remembrance..." but I guess it's just a matter of taste. I'd have to disagree that the Sontarans or the Cybermen are more plausable enemies - the first a race devoted to war but unable to do anything about that little vent on the back of the neck and the second vulnerable to any opponent that can rustle up some gold and a cheesegrater.

  3. Re:Radio 1 on UK To Get Music Download Chart · · Score: 1, Interesting

Agreed (though The Archers has gone downhill in recent years.) IMHO Radio 4 alone justifies the BBC licence fee, especially with the Listen Again feature on the website.

  4. Why? on 3-D Gaming on Your Cellphone · · Score: 0

I mean, what's the point? Nokia tried a game phone and even they couldn't do it right. Sony have what looks to be a killer handheld gaming device out soon. Miniaturisation has a way to go before we can fit a decent phone and a decent console in a handy sized package - and by the time it catches up gaming/phone tech will have moved on and so it will still look clunky

  5. Are we making money yet? on iPod Mini Worldwide Rollout Delayed · · Score: -1, Troll

What is it about Apple that they can generate such huge pre-orders of a gadget that costs $250 and *still* not make a profit?

  6. Re:One question.... on New Dr Who Actor Named · · Score: 5, Informative

Eccleston. In the UK he's a well repected TV actor but he was in '28 Days Later' and 'Elizabeth' too. He's an interesting choice and over here at least he's certainly going to lend a bit of adult credibilty to the new version of the show.

  7. Re:Interesting, yet disappointing on New Dr Who Actor Named · · Score: 3, Interesting

Richard E Grant would have done a fine job but he would have been almost too good a fit for the part - you get the impression he could do haughty but eccentric without having to think about about it.
Same with one of the other hotly tipped actors - Alan Davies - who could easily have done slightly shambolic and eccentric as he has done in several series of 'Jonathan Creek.'
And much as I love Eddie Izzard I'm kind of relieved it wasn't him in the end.

  8. Waste? on Wasting Time Fixing Computers · · Score: 1

C'mon, it's not a waste of time. If it all ran without a hitch where would the fun be? Every problem resolved is another notch on the headboard. What doesn't kill me makes me stronger etc etc
