    Get well soon jlo!

Thanks. I wish that too. Where can I get this Parody drug. I didn't find it from our local pharmacy. Do I need a prescription?

Stop spreading FUD against cats. You can get toxoplasmosis by eating raw meat or fresh feces, not just infected cat's, but any mammal's. Eating poorly cooked meat is the most common way of getting toxoplasmosis. It can be dangerous to people with weakened immune system, e.g. people with HIV, young babies and fetuses. For most healthy people (and cats) toxoplasmosis infection will go away on its own without any symptoms.

Toxoplasmosis is not especially nasty disease. The infection can be easily prevented. The world is filled with much nastier contagious diseases that you should be afraid of more than toxoplasmosis, e.g. rabies. Are you next suggesting of "STOPPING" dogs. Dogs are the principal host of rabies in many parts of the world. I hope not, or eventually you probably end up "STOPPING" humans too.

Interesting that nobody has mentioned Pike. It's a very nice interpreted OO-language with C-like syntax. Here are some apps developed with Pike, including the Roxen WebServer.

That's why M$ has software patents. Once competition gets too tough they'll make the word "innovation" extinct by suing everyone infringing their patents.

Better yet, download the Skype Fedora package, convert it with alien:
    alien --to-deb the-skype-fedora.pkg
    then
    sudo dpkg -i the-skype-fedora.deb
This way you have it nicely integrated with gnome and apt.

Isn't the MPAA infringing on your copyrights?

So what? They can do anything they want. They are above the law. They write the law. Your job as a citizen is to vote for your favorite legislator from the candidates chosen by the likes of MPAA. Now stop crying and start buying your daily dose of entertainment.

  7. Desktop Linux on Ubuntu Linux Live CD Release · · Score: 2, Informative

After trying all the major distros, I've become a real fan of Ubuntu. It's the first distro that I think could have a real potential to become THE desktop Linux. It's Debian from the inside and something different from the outside. When installing Linux to my friends, I no longer have to pound Debian to become a decent desktop OS. Ubuntu is that out of the box. Still Ubuntu retains the configurability of Debian.

Yet Ubuntu needs some tweaking too. E.g. I hate spatial Nautilus, so I always change it to the browser view. Default apt repositories aren't enough, so I add Ubuntu Universe, Multiverse, Backports and Debian Marillat repos to /etc/apt/sources.list. I also setup apt-pinning.

One can always argue that Suse, Mandrake and other KDE based distros might have some potential as THE desktop Linux, but I personally dislike KDE. It's too heavy and bloated for my taste.

GIMP has already stopped by OS X. Although it runs in X11. You should use Fink to install GIMP, and other excellent Unix world apps. As a Graphic Converter user, you might be intrested to try Image Magic.

I have been using succesfully the Duality theme changer. But after updating to the X.2.3, the stripes I've always hated bitterly came back stronger than ever. Knowing that Apple doesn't like their terrible Aqua theme being changed, it makes me wonder does Duality still work.

I start fighting back now, so wish me luck that my GUI doesn't blow up.

I feel very bad. I paid big bucks for my mac, believing that it gives me M$ free working environment where there's no price tags lurking behind every corner.
