I believe it depends on your expenses contra income. If you can't afford it, you can't, if you can, I think you should.
18 months ago I quit my job making software for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs). Pretty interesting product IMHO, but my professional satisfaction was close to zero. Inferior architecture, poor development processes, etc. IMNSHO...
So after about 8 years in that business I gave up. I took a cutback and changed job to something with a higher degree of professionalism. After 18 months I still do not regret that decision!
I must admit that I sometimes miss the missions (high coolness-factor++), but I will not switch back and loose the professionalism I feel today.
This is actually quite funny, coming from a nation that, more than 200 years ago, revolted against the "elite" and demanded liberty and equality.
Didn't they get it then?
This is statistical noise, pure and simple. There is no story here.
With 0.64% it could easily be so, but there might be another explanation: Usual Firefox-users had their holidays, walking into internetcafés using their IE for surfing.
Thats what I did...
Actually I don't give a damn about what Microsoft won't give a damn about. So if they won't give a damn and I don't give a damn, we're both happy;-)
On second thought, perhaps I *should* give a damn;
If they won't give a damn, their products won't improve, causing damned people to port away... naiiice thought:-p
I agree, but are you implying that this is the case now? Could it be that people are just interested to see what is going on, and SYS-CON simply haven't enough bandwidth (or too slow servers, or whatever).
However, I would not recommend them to upgrade. I recon they soon will find the current capacity plentyful;-)
"People should keep in mind that Mr. Kircaali really doesn't have the option of fully admitting and apologizing for anything. That would just open up him and his company to a giant lawsuit."
If that is the reason of lacking apology, I think they missed the point again.
From my judgement of PJ, I would say that a sincere apology would be the safest way to avoid a lawsuit, not to mention getting back readers.
By not making that apology, they also clearly states that MoG has not broken their "high standards" of ethics. (read: this is a tabloid).
In fact I think PJ should sue them for $1M, simply because they show no remorse.
They got a couple of extra hits from me over this, I hope that will keep them "warm" for a long long time...
Could the real agenda of SCO (or the money behind them), be to actually loose this case, and then run around and yell about GPL/Linux killing commercial business?
It would require a *good* spin-doctor to pull that of, but...

Whats the worth of SCO? $200 mill.?
Let's put in $20 for each Linux we have, then:
- buy SCO
- license all their IP/code to GNU
- and if we are in a real evil mood: dissolve the company.
Let me see, I have 3 Linuxes running = $60SCO wants $699 per Linux = $2097
I save $2037 and probably will get an even better Linux
Perhaps it's time for the world to meet Open Capitalism
