  1. Why are we still using the US system? on NASA Will Go Metric On the Moon · · Score: 3, Insightful

I was under the impression that most scientific agencies used metric as a standard (Guess US educational system failed me there). My father is a builder and I grew up seeing how contractors can be so loose with measurements. It amazes me that NASA got this far using a very inaccurate system (at times) for such precise operations.

  2. Re:PHP on Searching for the Best Scripting Language · · Score: 4, Insightful

Yeah I feel the same way about PHP.

There are many parts about the language that make it work well for web applications, but there is a time and place for other languages too. For most projects there is no need to use anything else but one language, but if a customer's server only has perl installed and they won't install anything else, then your stuck. So it's a good idea to atleast get to know a couple languages (don't have to master them all) for certain situations like that.

if it were small metal strands then it would burn in different locations every time and not in one central location. I'm not totally agreeing with the RFID tag theory, but it does make a lot of sense. Especially if the government went to all the trouble of putting a small metal strip in the same spot, on every bill. This all depends if the bills were actually burnt in a microwave, unless he did it himself to raise awareness of RFID tags. Maybe someone else should give it a try and see what happens.

  5. Technology = less stress on Correlation Between Stress and Technology? · · Score: 1

In every part of life there is stress and in the work place there will be some form of stress. I think technology lowers the stress though. For instance if i get stressed out i can put a funny movie on, listen to music, or play a game. Couldn't do that when 20 years ago unless u brought a radio/TV/ and board games in. Now it's located all in one place. Orginzation is also easier. Finding stuff is easy. (no searching through stacks of paper memos, but instead just hit find in email and a sec later you have it)

it's not that they don't know how to choose the best movie, they just look at it every aspect. Not everyone can be fanatical about this film. I disturbs me when i hear people saying it is the best movie of all time. In an artist filmmaking prespective it's not. It was well made and was a great movie, but there have been other movies out that were also good in a film sense. Just because it didn't pull in millions doesn't mean it doesn't deserve an oscar.

exactly, people are so stupid when it comes to economics...now i'm not an economics buff, but people have to realize that a president can't turn an economy around in a couple of months. By the end of Clitons term, the economy was going into the toilet, but it is finally coming back. It may or may not be because of Bush, but even if it is, Bush will never get the credit. Instead the next president who steps into office and passes a quick bill through congress will get the credit.

if you went into seeing the matrix with a great vision of what it is going to be, then getting disappointed, oh well get over it. IT'S A MOVIE!!! The movie had its good points and bad, but it was far from being a star wars episode 1 or 2

As for lotr...i can't wait (not like they're will any surprises since i read the books before even seeing the movies) In the same respect, this isn't the greatest movie of all time, people have to get a hold of themselves. People get annoyed with Matrix fans being to religious, if anything lotr fans are worse. Get a life. The movie is purely entertainment just like the matrix was.

  16. Solution to the problem? on Is Win2k + SP3 HIPAA Compliant? · · Score: 1

Ok so you don't want to violate any agreements, but yet you feel letting Microsoft have access to your computer would also be bad. Well in this case either just install the patches like many companies already have.

You always do have the choice of switching to another OS like Linux or Apple, but they also have there problems too. This would eliminate the problem of Microsoft accessing your files. The bad part of course is throwing away the money that companies spent to for licenses for Microsoft, so most of the time it's not a logical option.

In the end, if you're so afraid of using the patch, then don't. (I wouldn't blame you; I would do the same thing.)
