Of course you feel that it wouldnt work. You go about it the wrong way. Instead of trooping down to Clear Channel I would get a list of sponsors and either send them a patition or troop down there. Let them put the pressure on clear channel.
"Clear channel either plays Frank Zappa or we are going to start boycotting anyone that advertises on it".
I agree totally with you Tom!
Lets see what has happened when people do this
1. Presidents get elected
2. Wars stop/start
3. Policy changes
4. Workers Rights
How in the world can your ideas be called ignorant like in some of the posts Im reading??
I think the idea would be to stop buying music all together as a group to protest unfair prices and policies of the music industry.
Keep on posting Tom and dont listen to those that are too afraid to do anything except criticize those that would.

Qoute: "I mean, for the decades before P2P what do you think people did to hear a song? [This coming from a 21 yr old "kid" should tell you something]"
From a 42 year olds perspective:
Before we had CD's and such we would copy the songs onto our tape recorders from radio. Anyone around my age would probably remember the "King Biscuit" concerts that were on various radio stations at night. We would simply tape them. We taped our albums too.
However, THat was a long time ago. Today we have CD's and everyone can burn them. Same thing but different media. The difference is that never had we had a large network to share them on. It was always friends in the neiborhood that we hung around with.
Oh, And if Paul McCartney reads this: Tell me where I send my check to you personally for your music I recorded. Ill do that. However, Im not going to pay Capital Records.
cheers,

"It's interesting to note that I am not a native english speaker and know so much more about your stupid language than most americans, and also unlike them, I have read and *understood* The Complete Works of William Shakespeare."
- I dont see how reading the Complete works of Billy Shakespeare would help you at all in America. This probably explains your frustration for not grasping the American way of life and use of language.
I was just wondering. If reading the complete works of Billy is such a great thing then what would happen if at the time he wrote some of them they got luke warm or poor reviews? Does this mean that you are stupid to make such a statement or that maybe all those that saw the "live thing" dont know what they were talking about back then?" hummmm....
Assuming the above possible, Can you imagine what someone would reply to you if you lived back than and said that? "This man is an idiot!".
I for one will bank on the idea that someone - said they didnt enjoy billies play and therefore you are an idiot.

I guess I can contest that as you get older you indeed lose interest in buying music and find that talk radio is preferred over FM music. Im 42 now. When I was 17 or so I would buy an album just because of one song. After all it was only 4.50 to buy one.
However, Today the music is probably the worst I have ever heard. Of course alot of you will say that is my age showing thru.
However, You will get the idea if you compare the words from someone like Steve Miller to any "hip hop" today.
I have to admit that I also bought a Yamaha cdr/w. Humm. Let me pull it out of my junk bin a sec....

The first one died and I bought a second one and it also died just after the year mark. Seems the scsi controller would recognize it but it couldnt access it at all.
Ok, Now I have a buslink externel usb 2.0 burner and it does a great job. I really enjoy it. Fast and quiet.

I have an account that offers 5 email addresses. One is a trashcan address (i.e. spamfilter@blah.net) and I use that when I get a site that want your email address. I also put it in my email program (evolution) as a return address and put comments below to use another account. I never bother to check my spam account and let my isp deal with it. Funny they have never contacted me about it(?). One time I had over 100 spam emails in it.
Im sure there are better solutions but this one tends to work well for me.

You tried to communicate your thoughts below to me:
Just why the fuck does some dumb ass saying "I did this, I did that. I'm really cool." earn an "insightful mod?"
Im replying to let you know:
The actual point was that sometimes college isnt all that important as others make it out to be by me as an example.
Dont be so hateful of other people. Remember that when you read posts to keep an open mind in what the other person is trying to communicate to you.
ONe last thing, Watch your language when posting. I know its tempting but it justs paints a poor picture of yourself when you post.
Looking back in retrospect - I didnt really enjoy college and actually dropped out and went to trade school. I think I have to agree with you about your experience.
I never bothered with the MCSE as I wanted to do hardware instead of software.
Not everyone needs the "College Experience". I didnt and Im doing great. I repair all kinds of equipment from Printers like Printronix, Genicom, IBM, ect.. to servers - RS6000, HP9000, AS400s ect...
Whats funny is that the dot com crash never even bothered me a bit job wise. But I did know alot of people in the software field that did loose their job.

I repair these things in the field and I can say for sure - steer clear of the Lexmark printers and stick with HP. Im refering to the Laser series of course. Parts replacement is quite easy with HP. Lexmark printers - while they tend to print pretty - tend to blow fusers much to quickly and when the right rail assembly goes or the HV P/S its just time to throw them out.

I record 1/2 hour of tv (greenacres!) and it comes to 700megs. Then use divx converter and get it to 233megs. Then just burn to cd.

I dont consider the Middle East the "WOrld".
What usually happens is that you end up not going to College. Its just better to head straight for College. Why would you need a year off anyways?
