    I think I used Atari Assembler Editor to write a scalable screen dump once, and that was about it. I looked at some x86 code once with the segmented memory and all and gave up. In Introduction to Microcomputers (Adam Osborne), I think it had the instrution sets to many processors of the time. I never thought that the Intel stuff would catch on but what did I know. Oh well the 6502 could do 64K, I think. Intel could do ??? in 64K segments, Motorola ??? Oh well, back to being just a dumb user.

    Yes, but doesn't Microsoft pay by bytes per day or something? Gotta have bloat to make a buck. Then you get paid to fix it when it breaks too.

    Maybe that's why the book is hard to follow too. I quit at 6502. I gave up after that.

    I know I'm a little late and others probably say the same thing, but it is not available where I live. We'll T1 is and satellite is. I can't afford T1 and satellite has some latency problems for such things a VPN. This is also becoming a real problem for the small office where I work too.

    I have tasted the regular version of code red, but I did not know there was a diet version yet. I will try it out. I've been drinking diet Mt. Dew for a long time because it is the only diet drink I can stand. I think I'm going to try to drink more plain water. One kidney stone was very painfull. I wonder if caffine is bad for that?

    It is an attack on low cost distribution. The RIAA is in the distro business. They will try to legislate thier way to the goal of full contol. I wouldn't bet against them just yet.

    No, prisoners don't work usually. The guards do. It can be a big part of the economy in some parts.

    I imagine the FED's will just go after high profile test cases to get that promotion.

    They know thier patent will be stuck down in a couple of years. Some companies will want to fight. Others will not and make a quick deal rather than spend money on lawyers. So they will make money for a couple of years by shaking down whomever they can.

    Also mark out and initial the parts that you don't agree to. If the company is too strict, maybe look for another. Maybe one that gives you a small percentage or something that makes the X amount of dollars.

    You can't. Even Google can't. I remember what is was like just after beta. It was even simpler. Maybe a blank box and nothing else at all would be the best. No words, nothing, just a box on the home page. KISS goes a long way.

    Yes, I use those adapters with CD/MP3 players too. Also, a tip would be to get some velcro from the dollar store. That should be enough to supply several locations. Put one on the player. Then put the other side(s) on the car dash, bathroom, bedroom etc.; any where there is powered speakers you can hook up. The audiofiles say that it sucks blah blah, but what kind of quality do you want? El cheapo, but it works. As long as you have at least 45 seconds of anti-skip, you should be OK except on the roughest roads.

    It would be nice if there were more open formats. I just think that would be a benifit, but on the other hand it is slower to add features when you have to decide by committee.

    CAD formats are the ones that I think are the worst for this. It just may be impossible to get anyone to agree to anything here.
