I am not a fan of PHP, but it's one of the best templating languages available. It never ceases to amaze me how many templating languages have been written in PHP, when the language provides those facilities already, and the new languages inevitably introduce all sorts of headaches not present in straight-up PHP.
If your app mostly takes form inputs and renders the data into HTML templates, PHP is a fine language. That's just not what the focus on the web is anymore. Now, it's all REST-y micro-services, which PHP is abysmal at, but JS excels.
They are both equally bad at type coercion, and they both have a brain-dead simple silver bullet to fix the issue (===), but JS developers tend to be higher quality, so they actually use the "===" operator.
Also, UBI is the free market alternative to socialism. Hayek wrote about it in the 30s as part of a condemnation of FDR progressives and how socialism leads to fascism.
Taxation is a benefit to society because the best way to avoid taxes is to pay someone else money for something and deduct the income, while investing in your operation. If you can't figure out how to invest money in your business to make it better, then you are not a very good businessman and don't deserve the money. This is society's way of correcting for your failure as a businessman, predicated on the assumption that your poor business acumen has only led to success due to subsidies the system has provided to you. You have failed at the social contract, so you owe money.
Maybe you should do a bit of history learning. Or perhaps learn something about analogies. It's pretty clear the US gave the British crown the finger while France was standing behind America, flexing its muscles, ready to throw down.
It is, but MS makes excellent choices when it comes to deciding whose chassis they're going to put their name on. That actually make the MS brand better than the OEM (Logitech mostly) on which it is built, in many cases.
The UI on iWhatever is NOT so simple it just "makes sense". You just think it is because you're used to it. Whenever someone hands me an iPhone, I struggle to accomplish the most basic things. I often have to hand it back to them and just ask them to get me to the right place. This has not been a problem on any Android device I've used, despite the fact that manufacturers like to swizzle up the UI in sometimes horrible ways.
If you bought a Chinese knock off iPhone, you probaly wouldn't expect updates. Same holds for Android. I've never had to wait for an update. I've never been locked out of an update. And - in contrast to the Apple experience - I've never been nagged to install an update that is too advanced for my aging hardware.
Hmm... white man gets frightened being around black dudes and women... and yet nothing bad happens to him... sounds like the traditional tale of the white man's plight.
So, you're a white dude. I think you still have to engage in some hardcore imagination to understand what it's like to be a black dude cast into a white ocean.
Except, no I don't. My bandwidth is not metered. I pay for access to the network. Netflix users use bandwidth that is being subsidized by other non-Netflix network subscribers. I see zero issue with Netflix and the internet providers hashing out the cost benefits, then having Netflix pass the costs on to consumers.
What, are you 12? If you want a vacation, take a fucking vacation. If your employer has a problem with that, find a new employer. Stop whining about life, and make grown up decisions.
I have every intention of spending the twilight years of my career working on ancient systems for a huge premium, so I say keep it around for the rest of us.
Highly misleading. If miners are shut down, Bitcoin transaction processing would operate a bit slower for a bit, then it would adjust to the new capacity.

No language whose primary implementation is written in C is a a replacement language for C. Self-host or GTFO.

It's actually limited to 10 years and as many terms or partial terms as you can fit, with none starting after the six year mark.

The Google cloud on Android works so seemlessly, I don't even know what it's called. It just is.

The lack of cues IS the cue. You are supposed to go to literally anyone.
Sure, but Netflix churn is the lowest in the industry. So, it's questionable how much impact something like this would have on subscriber numbers.
I am paying for the infrastructure needed to deliver peak bandwidth, which is driven by prime time Netflix consumption more than anything else.

You don't know what you're talking about. Just because a program has side effects does not mean the functions have side effects.
f(S) = S'
You pass in the current machine state, and you get back a new machine state. The original state is not modified. There are no side effects.
Hmmm...seems the moron is the one who can't put two and two together, you dumb shit.

Yawn...
Rework by Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson of 37 Signals.
Netflix is estimated at 37% of the internet's traffic. I pay $50 for internet. I pay $10 for Netflix. Something is wrong.
