So then it is only the opinion of the man (I use the term loosly to mean all people) with the most education in the english languange who has an important opinion. I think not. True the senators only have 24 hours in a day like the rest of us, but they have people hired to read these letters. I would think that presenting the relavent issuse raised by such letters would be part of the job description. They have people whose time is being paid to "be spent parsing badly-written letters and flame mail." regardless of the language used. I agree that most people are morons, anyone who has drivin in rush hour will agree. But it is the duty of the officials to serve our needs in government and of the proof readers to pass along important documentation.

As for the question "Would /. readers put up with dense code full of poorly chosen variable names and devoid of comments?" i would think so if it ran faster and was more stable then its competators. *emergent code* is a perfect example of this. It is impossible to read, not the tinyest bit documented, and fast as hell.

People are not computers. People are not the best at things. People make mistakes. And for all that you say people are irrelvant untill they do better? At this point i will shut up before I transform into some sort of uber troll

perhaps i am just a bit dumb but wouldnt it make more sense to have them join up with CVS and bring their code together to form a better service. this would also have the added advantage of making life easyer for those of us who do weekly (daily?) builds of our alpha/beta software by placing all the code in the same 'place'. this service seems to be redundant and will probably not stay up to date with CVS or else CVS will not stay current with it either way it doesnt seem to make sense IMO

They dont need to open source to port it to *BSD. But it would make developing simpler. It seems you have fallen victim to the assumption that closed source is evil. It can be a good thing in a comptative system. Nvidia doesnt need to open their drivers just port them. Last time I checked Creative didnt have open drivers for the SoundBlaster cards but they run just fine on Linux (I have not checked for BSD support and dont really plan on doing it). That is an example of a company with a great product that is cross platform compatible. Open drivers are nice but ultimatly not that important. It's the existance of drivers that is the issue.

Windows doesn't even give me the option of geting rid of worthless drivers. i mean really i dont have any ISA slots on my machiene so why do i have to have ISA drivers on it? mad props to Nailer on that post.
