  1. Re:Video? Get a good compact on Solar Power Pre-Deployment To Afghanistan? · · Score: 1

Agreed, my Canon Ixus 60 takes better video than some hard disk-based camcorders I've tried and it's tiny. Just get the biggest SDHC card you can find and he'll be fine. I believe some newer PowerShots can do HD video, too. I think they also have a new ruggedized version which may be handy for his situation.

Of course, staying home may be a better option than dying to protect non-renewable resources.

No, it simply means 2211840. No units in the operands means no units in the result.

1920 by 720 means 1382400 pixels per inch

Same, but this time you're referring to a resolution that nothing uses.

"Full HD" is 1920x1080=2073600 so the theater only has 6.25% more pixels than a home "Full HD" screen.

That 117 million figure from Nokia is spread out over a huge number of different products. Apple sold 7 million of ONE MODEL. As far as a single device I believe the iPhone is outselling everything else, even free RAZRs.

  4. GPRS? on New Communicators from Kyocera and HP · · Score: 1

Now make one of these babies with GPRS support and I'll pick one up... Oh and BTW it doesn't have GPS! Do you see a huge antenna on it? Nope... Plus if you read the fine print it says something about requiring carrier support. I guess this means The Man knows where you are anyway by triangulation and they'll likely sell that information back to you. Why doesn't someone make an 802.11 phone and bounce voicemail from phone to phone? No carrier required...

  5. Uncapping Bandwidth on FBI Raids Homes and Seizes Bandwidth Pirates' PCs · · Score: 1

What this article failed to mention was that uncapping your modem does not use bandwidth, it simply increases the maximum speed of the modem. Just because they increased the maximum speed doesn't mean they used any more bandwidth.

I'm not sure if this ISP has monthly transfer limits or not, but if they do then uncapping the modem does not affect them - The modem itself is not responsible for maintaining transfer limits, only restricting the maximum transfer speed. If the ISP doesn't have monthly transfer limits then these people are within their rights to transfer as much information as they want!

I agree that uncapping the modem is against their EULA but doing so does not mean they transferred more data than they should have.
