Statistically it might be possible to describe this properly, if such a relationship did in fact exist. The problem here is that all the variables seem to be ordinal values and they give no instructions on how to convert them into cardinal values in terms of their function. That makes it also quite interesting how they got the constatants. On the other hand would every properly derived formula suggest that the implied relationship does not exist. Then again that seems quite boring.
The taking of the card itself is theft. If you find something on the sidewalk, in a cab, etc that does not belong to you, you do not have the right to take and keep it. It is still property of the orignal owner. To keep it is theft, pure and simple.
Actually this is BS. Theft in legal terms is stealing something intentionally. This is just keeping something. That is illegal only if the legitimate owner is known to the one who finds it, and he chooses not the return it. If the legitimate owner is not know and can not be found out it is not illegal to keep the found thing. That said it is certainly harming the personal rights of the persons on the picutres to publicise them without consent on the internet and the concerned people might as well sue the publisher, of course only in case they ever find out, what they probably never will. They don't actually look as if they read slashdot.
The EU Laws are not that great. In Germany e-Mails are currently read by law enforcement agencies without court orders on the same grounds as mentioned in the above article. That e-Mails are rather stored than transmitted. Until now I felt safe because I store my e-Mail on US servers. Guess that's got to change.
I used to have the same problem of city noise disturbing my sleep. As I live in Europe where people tend to have no aircon it also gets very hot in the summer so that you have to open whe windows in the night, what draws in only more noise. But after working in a third world city of 12m for some time I learned to sleep with earplugs, what solved all my problems. With them I can sleep almost anywhere under any conditions.
Some people argued here that Internet in Lao Villages won't make sense. There are still some reasons why Internet actually makes a lot of sense there:
- price discrepancies are big in Laos. With an Internet connection farmers can look up the prices on the market without travelling two days to see that they are down.
- there is no normal chance to communicate for farmers to share information about planting methods, fertilisers or whatever.
- maybe in villages there are very basic schools, but teachers have also no chance to lookup information or communicate.
- due to the general lack of information infrastructure it's also simply impossible for people to see whats going on or just get a weather report for the next week
For all this reasons Internet makes sense in Laos in a way which is more about an Intranet for Laos to provide only most rudamental informations, then reading the New York Times.
When it comes to nutrition or clean water the situation is as far as I know better then anticipated by the other comments, not at least due to the massive help from outside. But this comes down to the question if you wanna give a fish to somebody or show him how to catch one.
BTW: It's called Lao Villages and not Laos Villages.
Until now exporting a rootshell from windoze exploids was no fun at all as I never found this system to be useful or fun to play with remote in any way. But when Microsoft not decides to create a proper platform to access systems discovered by the tons of IIS exploids around it should only be greeted by the community.:>
..the quality is terrible. I've seen Minority
Report as a bootleg copy in Asia before it came
to the cinema and it was a terrible experience. In
Asia there are DVD's circulating which are copy from DVD, they are OK usually and those of the newest movies which should be avoided at any cost. I paid up to four dollars for those in Cambodia and I can
certainly not recomend it..
even if not as intended but bugtraq will loose a lot of reputation over the time anyway. Especially to those people posting serious things. Maybe it's like fighting satan with the devil but this will make the world a lot more secure in the long run. Shure such a simple step can not prevent full disclosure from existing but it will split up the scene pretty well.. it will be intresting to watch the full impact within the next month and thank you symantec!
