I've had problems writing to DirectCD discs with other programs, but I --- scratch that, I do remember a couple of situations where DirectCD discs weren't readable on plain Win2k machines which read UDF out of the box.
Part of the problem is that some versions of DirectCD try to hybridize the UDF format with an ISO9660 directory when you eject the disc, but in my experience it seems to cause more problems than it solves.
In addition to the music CD recorders, many consumers believe you have to have the music CDRs to record music. When out of tech work I worked retail computer department sales for 3 months, and time and time again I would explain to people that on a PC they can use the cheap CDRs for music CDs, but they almost never believed me and bought the music CDRs anyway. Even after I told them I have done it myself many times on the cheap CDRs. (Why did they ask me, then?)
And, of course, themes can be much cooler than skins. You can do this or this with Zinf, for example.
Although I like Zinf I still have WinAmp 2.x as my default at home due to laziness. Zinf handles the playlist a little differently, and everyone is used to the WinAmp/XMMS style playlist interface, so that's the only disadvantage I see to Zinf so far. Does anyone know if Zinf can be made to have an XMMS-like playlist interface?
Speaking of sick bags, they used to have one in every seat back. On my last flight I realized I haven't seen a sick back in a long time, and I fly several times a year, so I rooted around the seatback pockets in front of me and found no sick bags.
How do they handle sick bag situations now?
Then again, in my many many flights I have never seen anyone use a sick bag.
I wondered about that myself. Your other responses mention water, but I would be surprised that half the weight was water, too.
However, the bit about the eggshells & membranes suggests that the vortex can separate materials. Perhaps they're saying there's 1 ton of sterile powder and now only 1 ton of unsterile trash powder. That still doesn't really make sense, though.
I wondered about sterile, too. Perhaps the pulverization and superheating kills all viri and bacteria? But there must still be chemical pollution I would think.
Since this post will likely be on the internet far longer than the humorous result, I'll spoil the joke. "Security Everywhere" is part of a series of multimedia Sun OS tours, and here is it's abstract:
End-to-end security in the Solaris 9 OS is achieved by enabling a secure configuration during install, and through the integration of added security services.

So the real question should be: Is digital better than film?
After you find the answer to that, please tell us whether vi or emacs is better. Then answer the *BSD vs Linux dilemma.
He used what was best to produce the results he wanted. The large format landscapes he did cannot be reproduced with today's best digital cameras. But he probably did other work, too.
I have no idea if Ansel Adams would have used digital, but I wouldn't go asking an officer of a camera manufacturer if Adams would have bought new equipment if I wanted an objective opinion. (Disclaimer: I didn't RTFA)
Ansel Adams is well known for large format very high resolution imagery; I doubut he would have achieved the same results with today's cutting edge equipment.
This reminds me of _Dilbert Future_ where, among other points, Adams says that those Star Trek skin healing devices will never exist because we'd all be sealing each others anuses as practical jokes. Another point he makes: would you trust your coworkers to operate the transporter controls?
I already hate this software. I'm a network admin, and 3 users have installed Plaxo, two of them after I advised them not to.
One person in another part of the company installed it, and it emailed everyone in his contact list without asking, apparently. Two people under me showed me the email and asked about it; I did some research and decided that it sounded not only like a virus, but definitely against company policy as departmental contact info is sent outside the company.
Here is a rather critical article about Plaxo, followed by an update after speaking with the Plaxo people:
Thanks for the info . . . you own a Mac, don't you?
No, that's the OS. It was time to upgrade to the next version, but unfortunately it's been delayed a few bits.

If this can be established beyond the shadow of a doubt in court,
Criminal trials only require beyond resonable doubt. Civil trials only need a preponderance of evidence. IANAL.

Homer: "Mmmmmmm. Putting."
Also: "Woohoo!"
Well, it's a good excuse to buy an iBook.
I'm ashamed to not know about 16-bit PCMCIA cards, but maybe this will help redeem me.
(eBay search for "16-bit PCMCIA" is the link in case it's connection-specific and doesn't work for you.)
I just found a decent site at JPL here that illustrates the earth's structure nicely, although it appears to have been written for grade schoolers.
Thanks, and please let us know when you find a link to a more simple explanation.

The only reason I bought another laptop is that the dongle of my PCMCIA NIC broke and it was impossible to find a replacement.
Couldn't you have bought another PCMCIA NIC?
Scratch that; I mean can I have your old laptop?

I for one welcome our new nanobot overlords!

Maybe slashdot could play is as a midi in the background of all the SCO articles; that would rock :)
:)
There's bound to be a CSS and/or Mozilla option to do this independently of Slashdot.
You win.
Whoa there, my 3-yr old PC boots in 30 seconds or less, what the heck do you have installed?
<hanging head in shame> Windows.
the good news is, Bush will only be emperor for 20 years!
Damn, I didn't realize Texas was going to secede. And I wanted to move back there...
Don't you mean Duke Nukem Forever?

Follow-up article that backs off a bit
I don't trust it, and it sounds like it would violate every large company information policy in existence.
The irony is that my company has an LDAP directory that each of these people use everyday, so WTF are they doing with a contact manager?
