Those cars are usually fotographed on the open roads, so those pictures are what anyone could have seen. This also means that no NDA was signed at any time by the people taking the pics. In the apple case a worker breached an NDA (or at least that's what apple says, but that's not the point here), so an agreement was broken. It all comes down to whether there is an agreement/contract or something like that was broken.
capitalism isn't the same as making a living. Capitalism is about letting money rule just about everything. Money as the impetus of society. Making a living doesn't necessarily have anything to do with money. And such a sudden turn-around as starting to sell your interpreter instead of giving it away like everyone else could be seen as an extremely anti-social act, which would be bad. Especially if you deny others knowledge that they have shared for years and years.
no they're not. they're protecting their wallets.
Figure out for yourself whether it's good or bad, but this isn't about continuing existence, but about money.
-let's sue volvo for creating getaway cars for bankrobbers
-sue McDonalds for selling coffee at a temperature at which it is supposed to be served
-sue you for not preventing my bike from getting stolen.
-sue trees for their branches can easily be used as clubs
it definately won't be able to recognize good music over bad. But a (broad) categorization should be possible:
- rock: includes punk, hardrock, speedmetal
- techno: includes trance, gabber
etc.
Obviously a lot of people are going to be unhappy, getting 'their' music lumped up in 1 category. But it could still be a useful tool.
right to make money? can you tell me in what law that right is laid out? people have a right to make a living and have a job. corporations do NOT have a right to make money. they just have a right to exist. If there was such a thing as a right to making money, then bankruptcies would infringe on those rights. I definately don't like the price of their products, so I copy them. This is not stealing, this is civil disobedience. Just like squatting isn't stealing (real squatting, not domainsquatting. that's a different story that I'm not going into right now)
it's harder to sneak a book out the library than it is to surf to a porn page unnoticed. At least here in the Netherlands all books rented out pass the hands of a librarian.
small sidenote on Sony: VPRO, a dutch radio and television organisation, has decided to no longer play any records from sony. Sony objected to their webcasts, so they're boycotting sony. I would point you to www.vpro.nl but it's in dutch. don't count on Babelfish either...
the difference here appears to be that Budweiser (from the vilage/town/city Budweis, I don't know how small/large it is) has existed for longer than the american Budweiser.
I'm gonna do the world's most secure OS. It will be called 'HelloWorldix'. It's entire functionality will be that it will be able to put 'hello world' on the screen. As this will be all it does, it will have at most 1 bug, making it a very secure OS.
maybe the jumper would count as an encryption-device, making it illegal for anyone to take it off without your permission under the DMCA, as this would be circumvention of an encryption device.
Don't forget Master of Magic. Man I've spent hours with that game.. sickest was when I played until I was able to cast the Spell of Mastery as an instant.. btw.. it runs under dosemu;)

P.S. Check out zangband, a roguelike game with magic system based on MoM:)
linux distributors indeed do offer value back to the community. But usually this isn't giving money to developers, but additional applications/tools/etc. that are GPLed, like the RedHat Package manager (used in more than just RH distros). they don't offer money, they actually offer value.
hmm.. strange.. at least from a dutch point of view. All record-stores I've been to (quite a few all over the netherlands) have headphones, and a couple of CDplayers hooked up to them. They'll put in any CD you ask for. Good way to find new artists. The only exception is CDs that have been HEAVILY priced down (Fl 15.00, normally a CD is Fl 40.00 which is about USD 18 (exchange rate: $1 == 1 euro ) )
>It's not your God-given right to be able to access their site.
and it's not the NY times godgiven right to know the demographics of all their readers.

At least, that's what I can come up with...

That would wreak havoc on the member administration of the mile-high club...

Never trust a company that makes their techies wear suits...
Yup, the US have a WAY better trackrecord in computerlaws. Anyone for a game of DMCA?

I bet that wasn't anywhere in the job contract.. The contract describes his duties. It's the company's own fault.

a friend of mine set up a box that pupils could try and hack into. might be an idea, especially if you can keep it in a controlled environment.
