Etoys moved in next to an art-shop. Now they complain that some people may not like the art made by (or show on) Etoy.com... well.. they knew what thewy were getting into, it's their own bloody fault. P.S. anyone heard anything about a southafrican company sueing etoys?
stealing is defined in law, and involves loss of property, not loss of prospective property (I would have had XXXXX dollars if all these guys bought it instead of copied it). the correct term is piracy.
DeCSS is simply a way to either view or copy DVD. The only reason DVD was delayed is the industry. It's like the torturer telling his/her victim: confess.. if you do, we let you go.. it's all in your hands, the only one keeping you here is you.
Hmm.. got it to work quite nicely myself. cablemodem from castel@home, running suse linux 6.1 (I think. I'm at work now and forgot the version. That's what you get from free stuff(as in beer...)
If it can keep out saltfilled air, it can definately keep out water. It's probably not even just the salt that is the problem in a marine environment, but the combination of salt and water. Almost nothing is as good as those two together in corroding just about anything that will corrode in under a week. But once you get salt in, you have a problem... the stuff is incredibly hygroscopic (It attracts water like fresh dogshit attracts flies). Also, sea-salt is not a pure substance by far, but a mixture, and several of the "salt" crystals will contain quite a bit of water in their lattice. to cut it short: in a marine environment, salt equals moisture, and the quick demise of all computers.
Why? simple.. I can go into a shop and write down each and every article they have for my 'guide of useful things and where to buy them'. Thios is perfectly legal even though I am taking up their precious square meters for which they paid a lot of money. Exactly the same as the whole ebay shit. Businesses should stop whining.
RIAA refers to Napster as "burglar's tools". But what is a burglar's tools? a crowbar? these are not illegal to make. Glasscutters? Perfectly legal. What's next... outlawing penises for being a rapist's tool?
Nope, not for providing an OS.. but for breaking the law. I know (now) that this will not happen but still.. it's what I would rule if I were a judge.. too bad I have almost no knowledge of law (let alone US law) so to be honest it's a moot point:)
all this break-up stuff and all. the way I look at it breaking up M$ wouldn't solve much. what WOULD help IMO is a nice long jail-sentence for a few of the high-up M$ suits. a 'normal' thief gets put in jail, and M$ has done a lot more damage than a stolen VCR and stereo.
That shithead would be matsushita corp. not somebody who happened to make a thing to play DVDs. I can legally make a cassette player, I can legally make a recordplayer. So I can definately make a DVD player. the silly buggers fromn the industry should get their head out of their ass and their hand out of their neighbour's. But don't try to monopolize the market. At least M$ tries to hide it...
The real question here would ofcourse be the ideal height to throw a cat off. This has been tested and if I remember this would be at about 7 meters. any lower, and the speed with which the cat hits the ground is too low to cause any serious damage. greater height improves a cat's chances to right itself, thus allowing them to escape injury. Don't think they tried this from outside the athmosphere.. might be a nice experiment.

PS you wouldn't happen to have the email of the guy who threw cats with 2/3 of their brain missing?
IMO making wine is an art, not a science. A lot like painting. That is not to say no science is involved.. but winemaking and cooking are both arts, not sciences.
This has offended me! I gonna sic the PETA on these guys! Gorillas in diapers? and that wasn't even the worst! think of the torture that dog went through! wasn't let out for a whole day! had to eat oil of olay just to stay alive! and then he was made so aggressive that even eyecontact made him jump! this is what gives pittbulls a bad name! stop this abuse of animals immediately!
and one more thing about water: it's densest at 4 degrees. This makes for good survivability in ponds, since on the bottom it will be 4 degrees, a nice temperature to hibernate. Water, pretty good stuff.. These things (see Doomhaven's post) make water such an exception among most other known substances.
Supermarkets in the netherlands do this too. But... By law they are required to give you the card anyway, even if you don't feel like giving them your personal data. Needless to say that I have the card, but they don't have my data
You wouldn't happen to have the email of the guy who thought of this brilliant scheme? I'd like to thank him personally. Maybe he'd be even more happy with a well-deserved jail-sentence
Easy one.. Coffee machine.. it's simple, it's handy, it's essential :) and I must admit that the shoe was a pretty decent idea too

Copying isn't illegal. Only the use of a copy can be illegal.

can't afford to not look at those mails..

As far as I know, a jellyfish is a single creature. I think you mean a portuguese man'o'war (sp?). But I am not a biologist...
