If music and video with DRM was ultracheap, say 1 penny per song and 10 cents a movie, and I could keep them as long as I wanted and watch/listen to them with open-source software on any platform, then I'd accept DRM.
If you think CDs are overpriced, you don't magically have the right to steal it (and yes, it's theft...if GPL violations are "stolen source code" then piracy is theft).
So, if GPL violations are copyright (or -left if you prefer) infringement, then piracy isn't theft?
More like (n-k)log(n-k) where k is the frequency coefficient of That Big Dumb Guy Who Has Nothing Useful to Say.
Actually, would't that be (n-2k)log(n-2k)? Each big dumb guy who has nothing useful to say has to be talking to someone who would otherwise be productive.
Which is the case for almost every blog and personal webite out there, you really don't know where they get their info and how reliable they are with checking facts.
I fail to see why this is bad. If you can't trust people to force-feed you facts, maybe you'll start to question people like Rush, Drudge, and Stern when they start telling the "news"
In addition, a 1 per cent sales tax would be placed on Internet services and new computers -- two industries that many argue have profited enormously from rampant file-sharing, but haven't had to compensate artists.

Nope, it was Asimov. The name of the story was "Robbie" and is the first in the anthology "I, Robot" which was stol^H^H^H^H used as inspiration for the movie of the same name.
iirc, it was also the first robot story Asimov wrote.
Whenever I see ellipsis (Those little dot dot dot things) I instantly think "MISQUOTE!" There are two possibilities here: 1) She said "The final episode is," then paused dramatically, and finished up with, "appalling." 2) She said something like "The final episode is an endearing tribute to both the failed show and the Star Trek universe, and I find the fact that it will be seen by so few to be appalling."
Either way, I think the way she was quoted was... appalling.
I and many others in my (legitimate American) business use RAR files all the time to transfer 100+meg (compressed) files over modem lines. Due to several competing factors, the best way to get the files is good old dos copy (as inefficient as it is) and have you ever lost your modem connection in the 20+th hour of copying a file? If 73 of the 100 files made it, you're 73% done. If you had 73% of that one file copied, you're 0% done and have to start over.

In other words, never.

Finally, the last barrier to my upcoming heroin addiction (Fear of needles) has been overcome!
What they don't say is that the "time online per user per day" plateau they have reached is 24 hours.
*Google just violated their copyright*
So, now the google bots must be programmed to read copyright notices on websites?
If they win on that, I'm going to put a cpyright notice on my site in esperanto and then sue google for 47 million dollars.

It's naat a tumah!
Let's hope Berman's hand isn't in the MMORPG. I don't want to be defending the Federation from Nazis.

Ahem.

I'm on a text only browser, and the description isn't enough for me to visualize this. How is it different than a trackball?
Politicians and law makers can sqaush them at will with no repercussions.
But only if they saw it first in a video game.
Sorry. I read in flat mode ordered by time so it looked like the Heinlen reply was to the Asimov post. You're both right! (and I'm wrong)

What could possibly go wrong?
I think you have to be one of the Pod People to listen to it. I guess I'll have to wait until after I've been taken.

No, I won't. I won't spend thousands of dollars collecting these poker chips, sorting them into boxes and cataloging them in my computer.
Never again.
You're right! How foolish of me.
Nothing to see here, move along.
