The consequences of this storm have been realized for DECADES. I haven't seen an inkling of an emergency action plan on the part of the city or the state. The fact that 10000 people are still in the Superdome (that they were even sent there in the first place!) shows that in spite of all kinds of warning the level of preparation for an inevitable disaster were tragically inadequate.
Hoping for lucky breaks is not a reasonable plan of action. In fact it is almost criminal. Once NO gets through this disaster I hope someone takes a long hard look at the negligence that lead to this. An investigatory committee like the 9/11 commission would be a good model.
Commercial radio is BAD. It stopped being about anything besides delivering specific market segment a long time ago and a medium radio is capable of so much more.
It is only natural that somone that isn't as beholden to advertisers can be more creative and produce a higher quality product. Public radio has been demonstrating this for a long long time (at least here in MN).
Sirius/XM is cool and is an extension of the cable/sat TV business model, but I wonder about Podcasting. It's one thing to spam your signal in an unlimited fashion like radio can, but the infrastructure costs of pod casting could be an issue. Streaming and downloads are like collect calls and we all know that there is no free lunch when it comes to bandwidth. I think the bandwith costs will probably limit the growth of internet based distribution significantly...
...transmits at 20 watts and is 1.2 billion km from earth. That is ~37.5 million miles per watt, and I am pretty sure that Voyagers transmitter is weaker than that by a good deal.
http://www.de.afrl.af.mil/SOR/3_5m_telescope.htm It's a 3.5M adaptive optics scope used to track satellites in orbit. There are some nice pictures of other more typical astronomical targets on the website that demonstrate it's capabilities quite nicely.
If it's location and abilities are well known there is no reason why they shouldn't release the shuttle pictures.
Basically these hardware sites are bitching about having their free stuff cut off. If they want to appear impartial they should purchase gear retail, without even telling nVidia. This works for consumer reports and ensures editorial credibility.
We just don't know enough about how emotions work for this to happen. This might be a step in the direction of understanding, but when it comes to the mind and emotions anything less than control at the molecular level is... how shall I say, inelegant. I think this guy, while ambitious, is putting the cart before the horse.

But I'm sure this has been going on for a while. MS, Intel, and others have all been suspected of such activities (all the technology was in place) but have never admitted it. I don't mind if a company tracks my music listening habits or internet traffic etc, but they should tell me it's happening and reward me for the data that I am providing them. A nice stereo for the music survey, or a top of the line PC for the net info or something like that. If they are going to profit from my information then I deserve a piece of the action (Hmmm, stock options maybe?) v2k
Herc makes the fastest TNT/TNT2 based cards out there and as Eric pointed out their drivers are known as some of the best. I hope the innovation of Hercules mixes well with the Guillimout reputation for being late to market and inexpensive. It seems like the two aspects are mutually exclusive, but there might be some synergy there. v2k
The world views that they describe no longer exist. Communism and capitolism are too often confused for the political systems that advocated them. The old USSR would be just as incapable of making (or even comprehending) something like Open Source as Microsoft. To call it communist is disingenious.
About a boy deemed to be a musical genius by the state. he is sent to live in isolation so his talent will be unadulterated by previous composers. One day a fan plays some Bach for him and his compositions are changed for ever. he is told to never perform or compose again and becomes a donut truck driver, the story goes on, he disobeys and each time another body part is removed, his hands, tongue, etc as punishment, great story, I don't know where Card copied the idea from, but it's a great story.....
He is just a very, very different director. Kubrick shunned the hollywood machine, while Spielburg IS the hollywood machine. This particular storyline sounds like ET 2 if you ask me, and I'm sure it will be marketed as such.
Stanley would have made a cool movie, Spielburg will make the "feel good blockbuster of the season". Something tells me that Kubrick wouldn't have made any deals with taco bell either...

So there you go. Still champion.

According to postini.com, my ISP's filtering service, up to 65% of all email is spam.
Spam costs money people, we are paying for that drain of bandwidth, and time.
I think a DNE list is a great idea, and make the spammers pay for it by charging for them for updates to the list!

I get tons of porn spam from AOL accounts. Shouldn't they make sure their own house is in order?

You can always get the reference drivers from nVidia even if Hercules driver revision stops. email me for details if your interested.
Followed by immortality and ESP based powers developed somewhat later...
