Why search engines use other search engines to search? Doesn't anyone else think that's a bit odd? It's one thing to maybe license google technology or something, because it rocks. But using another search engine from a page of a search engine seems strange.

Although, I guess it can be useful if you just want to search for results on other sites without going to a different page, but when google's already the best, why bother? :)

Ya, I remember when 9/11 happened, our HUGE fall career fair was the next day. When I say huge, we fill up our arena and it lasts a week. Well, its normally huge, but when that happened, so many companies pulled out, or were just there because they didn't know what else to do, that it was useless. Although, given it was one of those times when things should be brought to a stop to think about things.

And I remember my freshman year, going to the same career fair. I was internship shopping (fall of 99) and I might have been going at it wrong, but I thought the idea of an internship would be to get some experience in a company you're interested, help them out, while you narrow down what you want to do. But they treated me as if I was applying for some full time job with a specific position...

"What position are you applying for?"

    "Um, intern?"

Oh well though. I think my plan "b" is to live at home, work somewhere local, maybe at some computer repair place or something... Who knows, I have no clue where I'll be in a year...

I keep reading all these articles on the job market and the direction some businesses are going. Where do they leave me? Clueless. As I get ready to graduate PSU next summer, I leave with one question... wtf am I ever going to do for a job? Decentralization. Great, so does that mean I should try to start some business away from a business? Or is it that when I get into a business, I won't have 50 bosses? Does anyone have a plain english definition?

When I think centralized companies, I think back to my Managing Quality prof from this semester saying how a lot of companies are flattening out their structures from having tall hierarchies to wide bases with a few upper people. Meaning, less people telling you what to do, but more people around you trying to work with you on everything...

Are the two totally related? Probably not. But when you're soon to be entering the job market, its food for thought, and leaves me more confused than ever... What do I want to do, and who do I want to do it for?

What's sick is that people will do this. Mostly because they don't know otherwise. It's like the people who install Kazaa WITH the spyware, even though there's a little box that you can UNcheck to not install the garbage (Kazaalite is another story). They just don't know the difference.

"Oo oo! Who wants to know what I'm listening too?! Oh, wait, you already do..."

At home, we have a Zenith TV that has easily lasted us about 15 years, ya, it's due for an upgrade, but its still going strong. Recently (in the past 2 or 3 years) I have purchased a receiver, dvd player, and vcr (all JVC). The receiver gave me a little trouble early this year and I had an extended warranty on it, and Circuit City took care of it for me, no problems. The DVD player has not given me a single problem! The VCR however has recently begun eating tapes and not recording. Unfortunately, I didn't get the warranty on that, so I'm out $150! So much for buying a good one...
