Looks to be the same color scheme as before. My G3 powerbook is grey on the inside, around the display, around the keyboard, etc. But the top and bottom (battery too) are all white. The white looks strange in the photos cause it's kind of like a big plastic layer around it... Looks like the same white though...
As long as the Apple on the lid still lights up, that's all that matters, right?
Um, I currently have one of the G3 12" (note: inch) iBooks, and it definitely has a DIGITAL video out. It has a mini-DVI on the side with the other ports. The adapter they gave me is mini-DVI to VGA, but for $20 or so, you can get a mini-DVI to DVI adapter from Apple (the link probably doesn't work though, cause their store sucks when sending links).
I don't think I could consider that a "Plus" in the PowerBooks. Now when you talk about light up keyboard and being aluminum... those are pluses in my book.:)
I use XP, so I don't have to worry about zip files since XP handles them just fine, but I usually use WinRAR when I have something else to compress/decompress. Works fine for me.
As for the "install", what are you trying to do? There really is no "installation" of Firebird. I've been using nightlies since like October and nothing has changed in the "install." You just unzip the folder to the directory that you want it in (C:\Program Files will usually do fine). And run the program. It creates anything it needs from there (Profiles folder, etc).
I did RTFA, captain planet... I realize that it's not until you open it. I'm not that stupid. But it's habit for me to open a new DVD when I get it, even if I'm not going to watch it. I would be worried about doing that with this, and then I'd be fucked. Point being that people forget these things.
To forget it "expires" and put it in late and be in the middle of watching your movie and it just die? Would that happen? I would be kinda pissed, but I guess if you buy it knowing you have 48 hours, who would you complain to?
At about 2:00 am (est) I got 75 kb/s on a line of what usually seems to be 768kbps (so it maxed it out). That was from the planetquake3 link (one of their 4 download options, the second one down I think).
For that french mirror, just go to the "Download Center" link on the left side and it will take you to a list of things, and just find the one you want, you'll be able to recognize them from there. Just note, however, that they're all.mov
I don't actually use Linux, so I can't answer that completely, but the DivX site does have a codec available for download. As for what you use to play it, like I said, I don't know. But I bet there are a few thousand other people on this site who do know and can recommend something... Anyway, here is the DivX.com link for the Linux codec:
I kind of like it. It's something different. I might be the only one, but I can only take so much green, so it's nice to have something else to look at after a while.
Now I don't know if it's already an option or not, but how possible would it be for people to select their own color schemes? As in, log in and choose what color you want things and it will be like that for your account when you're logged in.
The only thing that takes time is apparently contacting the download server. I waited for about a full minute while it searched and searched and then the download popped up and maxed out my line...
be patient...
although, i'm sure it'll suck fat rock later when there are like 100 comments, that's how i judge if it was/.'ed or not... the # of comments
Are these people that bored that they need to spend a day doing this? Ok, wait, that's not even what bothers me the most...
Who paid for that thing? I mean, it was someone's car at one point right? Did they not need it anymore? I've never known many people to just destroy a fairly new car because they just "wanted to"...
Lesson learned: Don't destroy a perfectly good car, even if it IS a rice burner...
... because I'm currently accepting car donations.:)
On that "try before you buy" thing, I noticed a week or so ago at an FYE store (music and movies) that for all of their CD's, they now have a scan-listen station, where you can scan any CD and listen to any track on it to see if you like it. (at least that's what I thought it was, I only tried to listen to a couple things.) This could be at least ONE step in the right direction for this idea.
As for DVDs, there really isnt much you can do, short of renting it first, where you'll already spend about $5 or so that would be nice towards the purchase of that if you like it. Hey, that would be a good idea, a "try before you buy" DVD rental place. Rent NEW dvd's and decide if you like them, then apply the rental price to the purchase price. TADA! Ok, so it might be a bit difficult. But if you didn't like the movie, and just returned it like normal, they could put it up for sale as used, or just rent it cheaper being used. Or maybe just sell it to blockbuster or someone as a used one. There are a few options.
I think its something to do with being able to copy it. The same usually goes from DVDs (at Target) and CDs (Bestbuy/Target) in my experience. It may vary by store, but from what I've seen its a copying worry...
Huh? I may just be confusing sarcasm with reality, but I hope you don't think I meant the spammers... I just wanted to clarify that I mean the ftc.........
No, I didn't. You can interpret it like that if you want. But that's your call. Can I call you dumb on slashdot though? I'd like to. I think it would be funny...
Does anyone know what happens to the hundreds of emails I forward to uce@ftc.gov each month? Someone mentioned to send them there, and I tried to read the stuff on the ftc site, but they just say its their "database" for spam. What does that mean? Do they actually do anything with the stuff? Not that the 20 seconds to forward with headers really kills my day. But I just want it to be useful to someone...
And out of curiosity, what are some other people's ideas on trying to prevent it? Basically right now I just try not to have my email address anywhere online (without some sort of word in it or something along those lines). And I watch what I might sign up for and their "privacy" policies. And I don't reply to the spam I get, since usually that apparently just confirms your address and makes you more valuable.
Wow, thank you for the enlightenment "real programmer." As far as I'm concerned, you can suck it. I'm not out to insult anyone, it was a question. Sounds like you're the one trying to be insulting. And who said I was an "elite IE" user anyways? Do you think you're special cause you might use... MOZILLA?!! Dear lord, no! Let me guess, you use linux too, right? I might not put money on it, but you probably do. Not that there's anything wrong with it, linux is just fine, and so are most linux users, but people like you that think you're some technology "god" and try to sound high and mighty really annoy me.
You say you don't post on slashdot to insult people who haven't gained the knowledge... well, way to be my friend, you have established "Hypocrite" status. I applaud you. But I'll go about my day, knowing what I know, and doing what I do. You can go about your programming, and maybe some day try to teach someone about computers instead of pointing out what you think is wrong with others. When I found out my friends didn't know that about AOL, I didn't laugh at them and call them retarded. I showed them, "watch, you can do this..." and then explained to them how it uses the connection and AOL is just there to be there for them.
Don't worry, I'm going home in less than a week, it's almost christmas you know? The time of joy and family and happi... oh, wait. You didn't get that part, did you?
.oO(oh, so that's why they call it "anonymous coward")
I have a couple friends that use AOL at home, and didn't even know that you once you dial up, you can minimize it and use IE (or whatever). I tried to explain that all AOL is really there for is to establish some connection.
Are these people really that dumb? Or does AOL lead them to believe that you HAVE to use AOL? I've never used it myself, and don't intend on it, but honestly...
Checklist:
1) sue spammers -check!
2) figure out how to recycle 1 million AOL CDs...
I had more of a fancy for nintendo back in the day of NES and even a little of SNES. But lately its been going downhill in my mind, maybe because of the game target audience. I had a Playstation, and we have a PS2 in our apartment now, and I just can't bring myself to buy a game cube (although I'd like to pick up an NES with Mario 3 if I get the chance).
But basically, I can't seem to get into any of the new nintendo games. Give me an xbox with Halo or Splinter Cell, or a PS2 with GT3 or something and I'll be set for weeks. But the new games have lost me... And maybe it's because I'm older, and his targeting is working, I don't know.
but you have to give credit to a guy who did so much for a company and still continues to pump them out, no matter my opinion of them...

sorry, I guess that was kind of uncalled for. But really, just in my usage, google is far superior, and I would definitely be interested in testing out anything that claims to rival it.

But it's obviously dead now.
I did too, it maxed my line... like 10 min ago. Now the link is dead and it has bit the dust.
:)
Totally amazing video though. I thought the crappy little leaked demo game was awesome, this was unreal.
Does anyone know of any actual specs yet that are required to play? I don't want to end up having to play at 640 x 480 or something on my 1.8ghz.

If you go to divx.com and download the one the doesn't say "PRO bundle" there is no spyware. Here's a direct link - no spyware included:
DivX 5.05
Ok, nevermind, it's hosed now... damn you people, I got the trailer and episode00...

"these people" = AOL users in general
dumb = uneducated
this is too much fun
I'd just like to thank you, that is exactly what I was hoping for as a response. You rock!
