If Microsoft has made garauntees that whatever product they provide is secure, then they are accountable, but if no such claims are made, then I don't think anyone has a case against them. If someone creates an X-Ray machine and tells the hospital that it can fail which could result in death, then they are no longer accountable. It's the hospitals choice to take that chance.
If people are going to purchase software ignorantly, then they void their right to complain. Suck it up if you are too lazy to educate yourself.
Fortunately people have a way of reproducing creating smaller newer versions of themselves. Every year a new batch of students enter their first year of post secondary education and every year proud parents buy them a new computer....granted not all parents buy their kids computers, and in my case my dad gave me an old Sun 3 workstation, but when people buy new computers they almost always want the latest and greatest. I think it's great to see the move away from legacy, and I think if it is properly marketed BTX will spread quickly.
I don't think versioning numbers should be used to determine quality. The kernel is only at 2, and if we look at Windows they were up to 2000 before they moved onto acronyms.
This scenario may be imaginable, but not very likely. The UN didn't jump in to help the US with Iraq, just like they wouldn't help them invade Canada, but they would help us defend ourselves. The US may have a powerful army, but I doubt it could take on the remaining United Nations....you guys would get France of course. They would be no help to us.
Quit wasting time cloning!

This may just be my opinion, but instead of wasting time cloning animals, scientists should be figuring out how to transplant brains into robotic bodies. Being able to live forever as a cyborg is far more important to me then having a clone of myself which will just grow old and pathetic.
You mean 160.9344 kilometers....we don't have miles in Canada.

This may result in something useful like transgaming being able to easily get halflife 2 working with winex.

It's about time we forget the cars. Of course I'm assuming we move to hovercars....I think Avro was working on one, lets start them up again.
This chair looks equivilent to head gear for your teeth. I don't know about anyone else, but I'd rather not relive Elementary and Junior High.

Offering a million dollars is one way to encourage people to make scientific advancements, but that will never compare to a global disaster.
If for some reason Earth was going to become uninhabitable scientists would have us living on the moon in no time.
