I earned friendship with 3-4 people during my 3 years playing Final Fantasy XI. Had very good times with it/them. But I must agree the game was masking a "real" life I wasn't enjoying.
I dunno if playing the game was the reason (one of them) I was in bad shape (body, mind, life in general) Or maybe the game was just a symptom something was going wrong (with or without game). And I'm sure I don't regret having played all those moments. But I agree with this comment in a first person view. Life is so great, so beautiful. The small things and the big ones. There are so many, and so little time, that I prefer to avoid somehow those that tends to alienate me from others (some drugs, some games...)
I played WoW for 12 months later. But from another point of view. I've enjoyed it a lot too. Trick was giving to all activities higher priority than WoW's. No matter if it was just a beer with a friend who wants to talk about his job. No matter, it takes priority. No weird excuses. You put on your clothes, walk/drive to him and enjoy. WoW, raids and bosses will be there later... You just have real things on that exact moment.
I plan to play Final Fantasy XIV the same way next year. I'll only permit this kind of games to enter my life on "lonely sundays evenings"... And only if it rains !!!!! I've discovered I like to walk !!!!! ^_^
PD: Maybe I'haven't expressed myself correctly. English is not my first language -_-
Coincidence. This very same week scientists from SPANISH INSTITUTE OF OCEANOGRAPHY IEO have succeed in getting millions of Red tuna eggs from same "generation" (I don't know the exact term in english, sorry) Difference between previous attemps being in the low number of eggs til now.
"A team of scientifics from IEO has gotten several red tuna (Thunnus thynnus) lays of about 5 million eggs each...
... Scientists have inducted hormones to the tuna and have gotten those 5 million eggs between monday and wednesday this week. They are starting the next phase of the project wich is about developing those larva...
Very very good news for sushi lovers (me myself!!) but BETTER news for one of the most overexploitted fish on the sea.
My japanese PSP has localization (language) for the most important european countries... even Spain ^_^
And even if it hasn't, I think SONY shouldn't have rough times doing a 200 phrase localization... OMG, we are talking about SONY. Come on.
The other reason is stronger (production problems). But I have my doubts.
"Gil" is the currency of Vana'diel, the world of Final Fantasy XI. A gil-seller is a person who sells gil for dollars.
The problem is that they monopolize some monsters and zones that give good items. They sell the items to obtain gil to obtain dollars. So the "normal" players like me, are forced to buy the items at the ingame "ebay" instead of getting them the normal way... killing those monsters. It's possible to wait for the monster to appear and fight it before a gilseller, but unlikley.
Worst of all, some gilsellers bring highlevel monsters near the spawn spot of the monster with the good item... so, the new foe kills you and they are alone to get the item. That is the kind of player SQUARE-ENIX is banning.
Excuse my poor english (Spain here) and I hope this comment helped
