I've never used Pascal, I started programming in QB, went on to VB(5, then 6), then did C++, then Java, now Objective-C.
I think when I start teaching programming classes at my old high school I'm going to start with Python so you get one language that can do both objects and procedural programming... anyone recommend otherwise? I'm just a bit curious.
While some of what is being put into Spotlight will do what Quicksilver, Launchbar, Butler, etc do there's still a lot of other things that spotlight doesn't do. Really all spotlight does is search files and data. It'll replace the itunes search, the contact search, and what have you but i don't think it'll be as intuitive to use for finding a folder fast, or running an application, the thing i like most about quicksilver is you don't even need to use the mouse, where it seems spotlight will almost require it to an extent.
I would love to have the ability to get my hands on coreimage for a project i've been meaning to do for 10.4. But since i can't technically get my hands on it legally, and I can't afford $500 i have to wait for it to come out before i can actually do anything useful with it. Which sucks because the sooner i get started on it the sooner i can maybe make $5 a pop on it, if my idea turns out to be good then i could MAYBE justify the $500 but it's too risky as a student to put forth that much money and not get any return out of it.
not to mention the uh... encyclopedia like volumes each of the trilogy books compare to. i think it's like 2400 pages all together. unless you've got a lot of time on your hands pick something smaller:) i have all 3 books myself but haven't picked them up to read yet, waiting for the semester to get over with before i start running into those books, i'd like to avoid them without long interuptions between reading.
every one of his books i have read have been interesting so try to enjoy it they're fun reads.
I am 1 for 1... being a subscriber i seen a story that was a duplicate and emailed immediately with a link to the first story and it was removed about 2 or 3 minutes after i sent it.
I prefer the salon.com articles they seem to be carrying a lot of great info on the election. premium membership was worth the money too... good stuff.. just a suggestion, not promoting or anything just noticed i've been seeing a lot of good stories on there about the election and since this is the first year i get to vote it's been fun reading and keeping up to date.. thanks jon stewart!;)
Have you used it? For any extended period of time?
I find it to be a lot more userfriendly and intuitive. Expose rocks, the abilty to close apps and other such things while doing the equivalent of "alt-tab" is another great feature. It doesn't necessarily get in my way at all, there are quirky things that do get to me, but all in all the enormous number of small tiny features are what seperate it for me. Once i use it for awhile on my powerbook I hate using my windows pc... it just doesn't feel as, useful to me.
While it was a joke I think Salon.com did a brief comment on it today in the Fix and interviewed a tailor who stated that there was no way that the buldge could've been a wrinkle or what have you in the fabric of his jacket. Whether this is used as any type of way to "coach" him i'm unsure. but i wouldn't put it past either candidate. Sorry the two major contenders are both... shall we say... eh not great choices. I wont' vote for bush so this really doesn't bother me, but i'm debating whether i should vote for kerry now too... the third debate didn't give me much other than it's easy to push bushes buttons;) I know this was a bit off topic but. ah well.. no real reliable source can confirm it.. but read the little blurb on salon.com and maybe it'll be worth the extra bit of info...
If this was done for every post we'd have "what is sco?" "what is voip?" "what is linux?"... etc etc etc.. for every post.. sometimes if you don't know what it is, you just have to go look for information. season 3.. that'd mean it has been around for awhile. if you were creative you'd go search slashdot for "red vs blue" and find prior articles.. now that makes sense.. post a link to a past RvB article with said information.. but still.. take a bit of inititive...
If I decide to sell it i'll keep it in mind. they're all like brand new to be honest with ya. but shoot me an email at unlogikal@gmail.com if you're still interested and if i decide to sell i'll let ya know. currently my brother uses it for school... i use my new powerbook (thank god i haven't had any problems with that yet)...
Ok that's it. I'm never buying another dell again. I have a Inspiron 5000e which I bought a good 3 or 4 years ago. I got it and shortly afterwards there was a battery recall, since I bought 2 batteries for it I recieved two new batteries, but they sent me 2 more extra's. Fine by me really. Now that same laptop has a power adapter recall. The battery was recalled because it was possible for it to catch fire, now this problem. No more Dell's for me, in fact I might just sell this POS on ebay and bum the problems off on someone else. It's not even worth it anymore even with 4 batteries.
For those who don't want to read the article, the link to the recall program is located at http://www.delladapterprogram.com

Correct... everytime i've asked god for an answer or a shove in the right direction i never got a response.. google has an answer for me:-P
yea.. right.. nintendo would destroy this thing... more features, better games, and longer battery life. PSP is dead before it even came out.. it would be neat to try but i wouldn't buy one.. especially for the rumored $350.. i'd buy a ps3 instead
this is where some SVG maps would be excellent i think. or would this not work? you could essentially blow it up and never lose quality... granted there's probably a point where you zoom in so much that you just get one single color and nothing else.. i guess i don't totally understand how blind, blind is... i have no real experience with this but.. i know there is a mapping solution out there that uses something like SVG.. vector graphics instead of your typical raster drawing. i forget the name of it..
Sorry, not all of us think the movies were that good. In fact, I welcome Kevin's rendition on this because I found most of the new star wars material to be boring and "pretty." The old movies were ok... granted I can't even tell you what happened in each movie, but if it's directed by kevin smith i'll watch it because i love his other work and at least give this a chance. Lucas sucks as a director, sorry. I don't give a rip if han or luke shot first or whatever. I don't care, where's the story in the first 2 episodes? 4-6 actually had a story, but the new ones don't, at least i'm not piecing it together real well. I'm sorry if i offend any of you guys, i just don't like star wars that much, but an animated/live action tv series might work if someone new tries something new. It's not for lack of liking the universe created, but the dialog lucas put together sucks and doesn't sound natural.. this is where kevin smith really shines.. his movies are all about dialog. he's great at that.
I wasn't implying that her gender had anything to do with it. it's called being descriptive, she was female, if it was a male i would've said he was a dumbass too. Stop being so nitpicky or go get yourself a girlfriend/boyfriend, whichever the case may be.
Wow... that was a trip back to memory lane. I had a Tandy 1000. i remember playing Outrun on that baby lol woooo... and a game called Vette... i still have the disks around somewhere too hehehe... good stuff.
No, she asked a series of stupid questions. She had no idea what was going on. The man interviewing knew a lot but the reporter lady in the CNN building in NY or wherever it is was just flat out retarded, next time i will watch nasa tv
To _ME_ it looked like he got wind sheer or whatever that started the roll. You could see him fight it but it seems like he may have over compensated and sent it into a roll accidentally. But I have a feeling it was wind related and not mechanical or pilot error. It's gotta be hard to control that thing at those speeds with manual controls.
That was madness, me and my dad watched it all on CNN, i swear that reporter woman needs to be shot, dumb as a brick i tell ya.
On another note that intentional roll rocked, I seen him do that and cheered, that was amazing guys.
To me this is like my parents being able to watch apollo and all the first space flights. It's incredible and I'm glad to get to experience it. If i could i'd like to shake the hands of every man and woman involved in this effort, they made my day better by showing us what can be done with some effort and stick to your guns.
Ah, CNN said it was "delayed." Granted CNN also had a woman report asking if there was some kind of rocket required to get it to space. It was just discussed but another reporter, it almost appears as though half the people at CNN don't have the faintest idea as to what's really going on.
This one is important, but the first and third will be the most important. The first launch they did was the first of it's kind, hence news coverage galore. the third will likely be when they win the X-Prize, hence, it's a big deal. The second launch (the one they're doing today) is important but they'll likely do coverage of the third flight instead of this one.
CNN is covering it, not sure how great the video will be. but it appears it was delayed due to high wind. The White Knight just took off about 5 minutes ago. give them another hour or so before they actually fire the rockets in SpaceShipOne.
Let's just hope Mike does ok with this, i'd hate to see someone die on an absolutely amazing thing these guys are doing. Granted I think they'll do ok but I am still worried about the guy, especially his family.

This is for making widgets for dashboard... not for regulary application development or web development purposes.
