But you could put whatever you wanted on PS2 Linux. The only real restriction was that you couldn't access the DVD drive from it.
If PS3 Linux is the same as PS2 Linux, except every PS3 has it, then that'll be awesome.
Well, it may not be the kind of thing for you then;) But you can explicitly pause the process at any time.
For PS3 they may have implemented a screensaver type app similar to SETI@Home, that only kicks in when the system is totally idle. We'll see I guess.
Depends on the options that were available on it.
As far as I know, F@H on PC runs in the background all the time and soaks up idle cycles. So it's possible you could be watching a movie on PS3, and have F@H running in the background or what have you. You're probably not going to have it running in the background of games, though.
That's also assuming it's a native PS3 application and not running on PS3 Linux.
"They got a web-browser or any other software I might want?"
The main OS has a web browser actually.
"Why on Earth would anyone claim that a locked down, non-upgradeable, lacking-an-operating-system or software system is superior to a PC?"
Well it does come with Linux on the HDD;) They want to encourage development for Cell.
But I agree with Anonymous earlier about this being a case of crossed wires. I think he was talking about where the PC fits into their online strategy i.e. it doesn't.
Haha! Is Cosm involved with PS3? :p

Nice news. I'm sure Sony will make lots of PR capital out of this ala the subject ;)
Will this run on PS3 Linux or natively on the regular OS?
