Tivo doesn't make their pvr. They designed it, but actually subsidize other mfr's to make them for sale. I don't know about anyone else, but I sure didn't read that as manufacturers the first time...
I've gotten spam that was "sent" from my own email address...which is silly, because why should I trust a company's services when they try to convince me _I'm_ marketing to myself?
Yeah, I've gotten these as well. Quite annoying. However, what really pissed me off was a bunch of people on our domain got the same e-mail, with my name in the from: line. So, I had a bunch of angry people thinking I was sending them spam. Good job, Mr. Spammer...
Why not make it go to 10,000 RPM? Then you can tell all of your friends.. "I took it up to 10,000 RPM, dropped the clutch (opened an app) and did a massive burn out!" (BSOD)
As well, it appears that the folks who were using AT&T's brand of Excite@Home are back online
Yeah, back online through NETZERO! Do you have any idea how slow netzero is? I read that, got all excited, turned my modem back on, and then discovered that it still won't sync. Thanks for nothing! hehe
Ok, when I first got my cable modem I was with comcast@home. Then, just recently, they were taken over by AT&T Broadband. If this deal goes through, it looks like I'll be back where I started, with comcast@home. Sure it doesn't really make a difference on my end, but it sure does make your head spin...
There's two sides to these stupid patents. There's the USPTO, which is issuing them, and the companies filing them. The reason they file them is that there's very little to lose by filing bogus patents. What kind of penalties would be effective at deterring companies from filing bogus patent applications?
The question you have to ask yourself is... if the patent office is handing out these bad patents now, what makes you think they will handle punishing bogus applications correctly? The collective IQ over there is low enough to count on one hand, and power in the hands of stupid people is usually a bad thing...even more power in the hands of stupid people is a really bad thing...
Blockbuster makes a full night's rental from me every time I forget to take a movie back on time. Yeah, especially since they started giving us those "extra days". You know, the extra day that means you have to have it back by noon on that day... They did that just to get the late fees, I know it...
I believe it's really about the corruption in the world. People have to be good people in real life, just to get by, but when they get online it doesn't matter what they do.
I agree with this. It's the same with people who drive crazily. They feel like no one will ever figure out it was them. These people feel as if their identities are shielded by their computer/car. Once they are armed with this false sense of anonymity, they do things that if they were face to face with the other person they would never do.
