I put three nics in a Pentium 90 that I found on a trash heap. One nic goes to my RR cable modem, one nic goes to my switch and one nic is for my son's Playstation 2. I can control every aspect of the firewall from any pc on the green nic. The firewall pc doesn't even have a keyboard or monitor.
I can VPN through it with ease and I have port forwarding from an oddball port number to port 21 for a private FTP so that RR won't find it.
It's really easy to use and so far I've had no problems. Of course ALL the machine inside of it are Linux boxes and all of them are using iptables (w/shorewall) so everything is really secure..

Only three monitors, and usually two are off. I can do what I need to the rest of them through the lan. One monitor is dedicated to my workhorse, one monitor is on my sons machine, the 3rd monitor is on a 4 port KVM, one machine is headless and I ssh into it (and the others) as need be.
I'm building more machines from old throwaways that I rescue from trash piles and load Damn Small Linux onto. They make great internet terminals. I'm putting one in my garage so I can stream MP3's to the house and use xmms to listen in the garage while I work..
The lights are mostly off and when my son goes to college this fall my electric bills will get even lower...
I have SEVEN linux computers running 24/7 in my all electric house, plus A/C, stove, oven, washer/dryer, etc. and my electric bill runs about $85-120 a month, $130 at the worst in the summer..
But not in MY house.... I'll have NO M$ products in my home. I forbid the use of any M$ products in my home or office. It's NOT going to happen in MY place...

I've been a shortwave listener on and off for years now. I moved to a new home about two years ago and shortwave reception kind of fell by the wayside, my radio broke in the move.
I'd like to see about getting one of these cool radios and throw up an antenna but I refuse to use any windows stuff in my house. Does the company have a version of Linux??

Not hard to make one with an old laptop display and some mirror film...
Frys has LCD screens for under $200 now.
Get a sheet of glass at a glass company for $20.
Get a roll of mirror film at wally world for $8.
